A day out at a theme park like Cbeebies Land, Legoland or Peppa Pig World seems like a good idea until you realise it’s an 11 hour drive. By the time you arrive, the children have had enough and the parents have started to argue about "whose bright idea was this?"

An option for sane people is to find a caravan holiday park or lodges with hot tubs which are a short distance from a theme park.

Cbeebies Land is part of Alton Towers in Staffordshire. It’s all on the same site, and you can usually get a 2 for 1 deal or book online to save a bit of money.

Some nearby holiday parks worth considering include:
  • Landal Sandybrook -  25 minutes from Alton Towers - bit like Center Parcs, but smaller. Loads of facilities, indoor swimming pool, log cabins, hot tubs, 9/10 from customers, luxury/mid-priced option.
  • Quarry Walk Park - 10 minutes from Alton Towers - log cabins, hot tubs, play area but not loads of facilities, 8/10 from customers, mid-priced option.
  • Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park - 25 minutes from Alton Towers - lodges and caravans, indoor pool, play area, 8/10 from customers, cheap/mid-priced option.

Legoland Windsor doesn't have an abundance of holiday parks nearby, but there a few worth a look:​

  • ​Edgeley Holiday Park - 45 minutes from Legoland Windsor - lodges with swimming pool, tennis court. 8 or 9/10 from customers. Mid-priced option.
  • California Chalet and Touring Park - 30 minutes from Legoland Windsor - leafy site with chalets and fishing, 8/10 from customers. Cheap option.

Peppa Pig World is part of Paultons Park - your ticket gets you into both and you can wander round the whole site. 

There are plenty of holiday parks which aren't too far away including:
  • Sandy Balls Holiday Village (teehee) - 20 minutes from Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park - busy, family friendly caravan park run by Away Resorts. Loads onsite including swimming pools, bike hire and playground. Reviews of about 8/10 from customers. Mid-priced.
  • Oakdene Forest Park - 25 minutes from Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park - family park with swimming pools and lots of activities. 8.5/10 from customers. Cheap/mid-priced option offering great value. 
  • Hoburne Bashley - 30 minutes from Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park - indoor and outdoor swimming pools, plenty of facilities, not far from the coast, 8.5/10 from customers. Mid-priced option.

Paultons Park doesn't have accommodation onsite that I'm aware of.

You won't find seafront holiday parks in Blackpool, but there are several holiday parks within a short drive from the famous theme park on the beach. Highlights include:
