5 Best Portugal Holiday Park Resorts - 2025
Family-friendly holiday parks and resorts in Portugal are often described as ‘campsites’ locally. However, they have plenty of 'static homes' that make them similar to the caravan parks you get in the UK from the likes of Haven and Parkdean Resorts. They tend to be less common than apartments and hotels in Portugal but there are a few Portuguese caravan holiday sites if you do a bit of searching.
The Algarve is a famous part of Portugal for holidays from the UK but there’s a choice of Portuguese holiday parks stretching along the coast. Some are nearer to Lisbon near the middle of the country and others are towards Porto in the north.
The northern half of Portugal is quite a lot cooler than the southern half. For example, Porto in the north of Portugal has an average temperature of 19 degrees in August according to Holiday-Weather.com whilst the Algarve in the south has an August average of 23.5 degrees.
We’ve picked out five of the best family-friendly holiday parks and resorts in Portugal. We considered factors such as price, proximity to the beach, facilities, travel time from the UK, customer reviews and awards.

1. Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort, mid Portugal (indoor and outdoor swimming pools, safari tents)
Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort has one of the best ranges of swimming pools and onsite facilities that you'll find at a Portuguese holiday park. There's an indoor and outdoor swimming pool along with several flumes and slides.
However, it won't be to everyone's taste because the accommodation is safari tents rather than caravans. Personally, I think they're pretty cool but you may prefer somewhere to stay with solid walls. Keep in mind that this is Portugal where good weather is more likely than the UK where this sort of glamping is a bit risky.
The safari tents are comparable to other Portuguese caravan resorts in terms of the comfort and facilities. You get a small kitchen, proper beds, a shower and a toilet. There's also a nice outdoor seating area.
The resort has several places for sports including beach volleyball, tennis and a gym. There are playgrounds, a children's club and a disco.
Reviews are good too - averaging 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google reviews.
Nearby Nazaré beach is famous for its surfing. It's about half an hour walk, so you will probably need to drive each day.
The resort is about 70 minutes from the airport by car. It takes about three hours to fly to Lisbon from the UK.
Price: £1796 for a family of four staying in a mobile home for a week in August 2025.

2. Campsite Orbitur Vagueira, North West Portugal (outdoor swimming pool, cheap accommodation)
**Winner: best value Portugal holiday park**
Campsite Orbitur Vagueira is one of the higher scoring Portuguese holiday parks on TripAdvisor and Google reviews with scores of 4/5 and 4.3/5 respectively. It was also good value in our price comparison.
It's towards the north of Portugal, so not quite as hot as some resorts but still decent amounts of sunshine and little chance of rain during the summer. Porto airport is only an hour away by car and flying from the UK to Porto takes about 2 hours 30 mins. A combination of those two travel times mean you will have about an hour less time travelling than you would for Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort or Campsite Orbitur São Pedro de Moel (see #1 and #3 in this guide).
The resort opened in 2018 and is about 30 minutes' walk or five minutes in the car from the nearest beach (Praia da Vagueira). The local area is a good place to trying out watersports with the option to pay extra for surfing, paddleboarding or jet skis.
The park is relatively well equipped, but it doesn't have the flumes and variety of Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort. There's a good sized outdoor swimming pool and a smaller pool for young children as well as tennis courts, skittles and pool.
Price: £992 for a family of four, staying for a week in August 2025 in a Comfort XL three bedroom holiday home. Eurocamp has four grades of accommodation including Classic (£), Comfort (££), Premium (£££) and Ultimate (££££). A Comfort XL caravan is a more spacious version of a Comfort caravan.

3. Campsite Orbitur Costa da Caparica near Lisbon (good location, coastal, no swimming pool)
Campsite Costa de Caparica gets slightly lower reviews than some of the Portuguese holiday parks in our top five (3/5 on TripAdvisor, 3.9/5 on Google reviews). However, it has a couple of key points going for it.
Firstly, it's right by the coast on the edge of Lisbon so you can combine a beach trip with a city break. The beach is a 15 minute walk whilst the centre of Lisbon is about 15 minutes in the car. That also means that it's only 20 minutes from the airport in Lisbon, which will save you more than an hour in travel time compared to Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort which we mentioned earlier.
Secondly, it is slightly further south than some of the other holiday parks, which gives you an improved chance of warmer weather.
The main downside of Campsite Costa de Caparica is that it doesn't have a swimming pool, which is unusual in Portugal and seems like a missed opportunity. However, it is closer to the beach than most resorts so you may feel that it's not too important.
There are some other activities onsite, including tennis, table tennis and a games room - although you do pay extra for some things.
As with most other holiday parks in Portugal, you get a basic kitchen, outside seating, a double bed for the grown-ups and bunk beds for the children.
Price: £1142 for a family of four staying in a three bedroom Comfort XL 'mobile home' for a week in August 2025. As mentioned earlier, Comfort XL is the second cheapest grade of Eurocamp accommodation. The XL version is a larger model with more space so it's better for older or boisterous children!

4. Campsite Orbitur São Pedro de Moel, mid Portugal (near beach, outdoor swimming pool)
Campsite Orbitur São Pedro de Moel is on the coast in the middle of Portugal, halfway between Porto and Lisbon.
That means that it’s not the hottest part of the country, but during August you can expect an average temperature in the low twenties Celsius. You should get sunshine 80% of the time during the day in August. During July and August you’ll only get a couple of days of rain but during the winter months it is much wetter.
The holiday park doesn’t have a huge range of facilities, but it has an outdoor swimming pool with a flume, as well as a playground, tennis and a games room
The main appeal is a wide and sandy beach which is about 10 minutes walk away. The local beaches are known for having big waves for surfing.
Customer reviews of the holiday park are pretty positive. On Google reviews it scores 4.2/5, whilst on TripAdvisor it scores 3.5/5. The reason for the big difference may be that TripAdvisor scores in halves, whilst Google scores in tenths (sorry if this is getting a little technical and dull).
The accommodation at Campsite Orbitur São Pedro de Moel is described as ‘mobile homes’ but they share a lot in common with the caravans you get at Haven or Parkdean Resorts in the UK. When we checked, there were two bedroom and three-bedroom units available. You typically get a shower, a basic kitchen and a combination of double beds and bunk beds depending on what size property you go for.
From the UK, your best bet is to fly to Lisbon in about three hours and then drive about 90 minutes. Driving the whole way isn't really an appealing option as it involves about 22 hours in the car. If you can cope with that then your children must be better behaved than mine.
Price comparison: £1228 for a family of four people staying in a 'mobile home' for a week in August 2025.

5. Yelloh Camping Algarve Turiscampo, South West Portugal (warmer weather, choice of swimming pools)
Yelloh Camping Algarve Turiscampo is sold more as a campsite, but it does have a good choice of 'rental units' which are similar to a UK caravan holiday park.
The park is near Albufeira and has a lot going for it, including positive reviews of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews.
There's a good choice of swimming pools, including indoor and outdoor options. They are mostly more grown-up in design than some holiday parks so don't expect the flumes and slides that you get at Campsite Ohai Nazaré Outdoor Resort (see above).
During the day, there are kids' clubs split into three age groups. For grown-ups, there is archery, exercise classes and so on.
The nearest beach is lovely, although it isn't really close enough to walk. It'll take you about 10 minutes in the car.
As this holiday park is in the Algarve, it is slightly warmer than the others. You can expect an August average temperature which is about 23 degrees Celsius, or about four degrees warmer than the North of Portugal.
From the UK, you can fly to Faro airport in about three hours and then it's a one hour drive in the car to Yelloh Camping Algarve Turiscampo.
Price: £1184 for a week in a two bedroom 'Chalet' for a family of four in August 2025.

Price comparison Portugal's best family-friendly holiday parks
For our price comparison, we just searched for the cheapest accommodation that was available. We carried out our searches in November 2024 for holidays in August 2025. We didn't include flights, transfers or any upgrades. Of course, it is important to check flight availability before booking accommodation. We looked for a holiday for a family including two adults and two children, ages 8 and 10.
