5 Best Derbyshire And Peak District Caravan Holiday Parks - 2026
Derbyshire and the Peak District is a convenient and scenic spot for a holiday if you’re in the East Midlands, West Midlands or Yorkshire. Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton are pretty towns whilst Chatsworth House and Ladybower Reservoir are worth a visit. And then, of course, there's the rolling hills of the Peak District for walking (perhaps less appealing for small children...).
There isn’t as wide a choice of caravan parks in Derbyshire and the Peak District as you’ll find in some resorts with many of the accommodation being lodges with hot tubs. However, some of these are comparable in price to basic accommodation in more expensive areas, such as Cornwall or Devon.
We've chosen five of the best Peak District and Derbyshire lodges with hot tubs and caravan holiday parks by looking at customer reviews, facilities, value for money and location. We've personally visited all five of these holiday parks (you're welcome).

Derbyshire and Peak District Holiday Parks: Our Top Picks for 2026
1. Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park (swimming pool, pretty location, near to walking and cycling)
**Winner: best value holiday park**
Ashbourne Heights is a quiet holiday park in a lovely rural spot, about three miles north of Ashbourne.
It doesn't have the vast range of facilities of some holiday parks, but it has a modestly sized indoor swimming pool, a playground and a shop. The views are pretty good. It's at the top of a hill but is a flat site, so you only get views from some parts of the park.
The main appeal is the local walks and cycle trails. The famous Dovedale stepping stones are a few minutes' drive away and are guaranteed to end in someone getting wet feet. Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park is also exceedingly close to a popular cycling route called the Tissington Trail.
When we visited Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park, we greatly enjoyed being able to hop straight onto the trail (it is literally two metres from the driveway to the resort).
The park was taken over by a big-name company called Park Holidays in 2021. It scores 3.9/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google Reviews at the time of writing, or 82% overall.
Price: £1159 for week in a Gold Plus caravan for a family of four in August 2026. The caravan can sleep six people if you don't mind using the lounge.

2. Lime Tree Park near Buxton (quiet park, simple facilities)
**Winner: cheapest holiday park**
Lime Tree Park is a simple, quiet and affordable caravan holiday park that is centrally located for exploring the Peak District.
We last visited the park in 2025 and felt that it had a ' homely, friendly and independent feel about it' (read the full review of Lime Tree Park).
The onsite facilities are limited to a play area and a TV lounge, so don’t turn up expecting hours of evening entertainment from crooners or a kids’ club. Despite the basic facilities, customer reviews are consistently very good (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor, 4.3/5 on Google Reviews, or 88% overall). Pets are allowed in some of the caravans.
Most of the accommodation on offer is caravans, although there are some ‘lodges’ that were only about £100 extra for a week in peak season when we checked.
If you're looking for a good value base for a Peak District walking holiday, I'd say this is a good choice.
Price: £725 for a week in a Chestnut caravan in August 2026 for a family of four. That's the same price as it was in 2025, which is an unusual bit of inflation busting!

3. Newhaven Holiday Park, near Buxton and Ashbourne (rural spot, simple facilities)
Newhaven Holiday Park is halfway between Buxton and Ashbourne in a very rural and pretty part of Derbyshire. It's the sister site to Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park.
It's close to the Tissington Trail, which is a cycling and walking route that we enjoyed cycling along when we visited Newhaven.
We found it to be a lovely peaceful spot, which makes a good base for exploring the Peak District. You can read our full review of Newhaven Holiday Park.
Does it have a swimming pool and endless entertainment? Well, no it doesn't. In fact, when we visited the only entertainment we found found was a playground towards the touring and camping part of the resort. There's a small shop that doubles up as the reception. Customers give it an average score of 85%.
However, it is well maintained and is surrounded by the rolling hills of Derbyshire. What more could you want, eh?
Price: £1069 for a 'Gold Plus Caravan with Decking' for a week in August 2026. That's two bedroom caravan that can sleep up to six people.

4. Sandybrook Lodges (swimming pool, great reviews, hot tubs, near CBeebies Land and Alton Towers)
Sandybrook offers lodge accommodation, so they’re not as cheap as some caravan parks but you do get a lot more space. Customer reviews are glowing red-hot (4.7/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.8/5 on Google Reviews, so 95% on average).
We certainly liked it when we visited, even if we were unlucky with the weather! You might like to read our full review of Sandybrook.
It is quite well equipped with things like a minigolf course and a decent playground but it's on a smaller scale that its sister park of Darwin Forest (see #5).
The activities bundled in the accommodation price include an indoor swimming pool and sauna, play room for toddlers and woodland walks. You’ll pay extra for things like archery, fencing or snorkelling in the swimming pool.
In terms of location, Sandybrook is right at the southern end of the Peak District so it’ll take about 40 minutes in the car to get to Eyam or 30 minutes to Buxton. One real plus point is that it's only about 25 minutes from Alton Towers and CBeebies Land. We drove for nearly three hours to get to CBeebies Land, by which point the children (and the grown-ups) were ready to come home...
Price: £1409 for a Tissington Classic Vogue lodge for a family of four for a week in August 2026.

5. Darwin Forest, near Matlock (indoor swimming pool, loads to do, hot tubs and lodges)
Darwin Forest holiday park is further north but it’s pretty similar in terms of reviews to Sandybrook (4.6/5 on Trip Advisor and 4.6/5 on Google reviews to make an average of 92%).
We've visited both Darwin Forest and Sandybrook and think that Darwin Forest has the edge as it has more to do onsite. Sandybrook (see number 4) has the advantage of being a bit nearer to Alton Towers and CBeebies Land. Read our full review of Darwin Forest.
The indoor swimming pool and sauna are included, but you’ll pay extra for things like indoor play, spa treatments, tennis, mini golf and fencing. One nice addition at Darwin Forest over Sandybrook is a ‘Trim Trak’ obstacle course (a cross between a woodland walk and an obstacle course).
In case you’re interested to the comparisons with Center Parcs, Darwin Forest has 120 lodges over about 47 acres whilst most of the Center Parcs are about ten times as big, but have about 800 lodges. Darwin Forest was about £400 cheaper than Center Parcs for similar dates and accommodation in our price comparison.
Local attractions include the Heights of Abraham (10 minutes drive, cable car, caves and playground) and Chatsworth House (15 minutes drive, stately home and playground).
Price: £1759 for a week in a Haddon Classic Vogue lodge for a family of four in August 2026. That's an increase of about £200 compared to last year.
