10 Best Caravan Holiday Parks In France - 2026

Visiting a French holiday park isn't actually all that difficult, particularly if you're in the South East of England near to one of the main ferry ports or the Eurotunnel/LeShuttle at Folkestone.
France has some very large caravan holiday parks with several swimming pools and a busy programme of activities for children. There are also plenty of quieter ones for those who can't think of anything worse than endless kids' clubs and splash parks.
You'll find an abundance of choice around Brittany, but there are some other good holiday parks in other parts of France, such as the Dordogne, Vendee, Normandy and Corsica.
Prices are broadly similar to UK holiday parks, though bear in mind that the exchange rate is a big factor, and you'll need to pay for a ferry or flights.

Quick Picks: Best French Holiday Parks For 2026
- Best Overall – Le Port de Plaisance. Large indoor pool complex with slides, strong reviews and a good balance of facilities without feeling overwhelming.
- Best For Activities – Domaine des Ormes. One of France’s biggest holiday parks with a huge dome waterpark plus golf, tennis, pony rides, fishing, climbing, cycling and loads for kids and teens.
- Best Beach Access – La Plage Campsite. Proper walk-to-the-sand location, two pools with slides, kids’ clubs in peak season, and sea views from parts of the site.
- Best Quieter Park – La Baie Campsite. Smaller and calmer than most mega-resorts, two outdoor pools, sports courts, and two sandy beaches within walking distance.
- Best Value – Le Ranolien. Six swimming pools, lots of facilities and very good reviews, but usually cheaper than the big-name resorts in peak summer.
French Holiday Parks: Our Top 10 for 2026
We've picked out 10 of the best holiday parks in France by looking at reviews, facilities and locations. For a rough price comparison, we looked for the cheapest accommodation for a family of four for a week in early August 2026.
1. Domaine des Ormes Campsite, Brittany (large resort, waterpark)
If you like your holiday parks on the larger side, I would take a look at Domaine des Ormes Campsite in Brittany. It covers a similar size as one of the UK's Center Parcs and has a range of different caravans/static homes.
The rather impressive 'dome aquatic complex' opened in 2019 and is a good place for a swim. As well as that, there's golf, tennis, fishing, pony rides, basketball, boules and volleyball.
If you don't want to cook, there are a couple of bars as well as a creperie, pizzeria and a restaurant with the golf course.
Overall, customers give it a score of 4/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.2/5 on Google Reviews - or 82% overall. It's about a 20-minute drive to the beach or the famous island at Mont St Michael is about 40 minutes away.
From the UK, it's half an hour from St Malo, which connects with ferries to Portsmouth. If you prefer the Eurotunnel, it's about five hours' drive from Calais.
Price: £1478 for a family of four staying for a week in a 'Comfort' static home in early August 2026.

2. Center Parcs Le Bois Aux Daims, Vienne (big name resort, great waterpark)
There are several Center Parcs resorts in France, but Le Boix Aux Daims gets the best reviews, with an average of 77% across the main review sites.
As with the UK Center Parcs, it has a large waterpark ('Aqua Mundo') and about 100 activities, many of which you pay extra for.
It's a bit more of a drive than a lot of the French Center Parcs. You can either fly to Tours in about 90 minutes and then drive for an hour, or drive from Calais in about 5 hours 30 minutes.
It's worth realising that Center Parcs Europe is a difference company to Center Parcs UK. The European parks can be a lot cheaper. Le Boix Aux Daims isn't their cheapest but it is usually mid-priced and it is the one we rank mostly highly. If you're looking for a cheap Center Parcs, check out our price comparisons of Center Parcs in France.
Price: £1873 for a family of four staying for a week in August 2026 in the cheapest lodge available.

3. Eurocamp La Garangeoire Campsite, Vendee (large park, several swimming pools, near beach)
Flying may be your best bet for La Garangeoire on France's west coast, unless you have a high tolerance for impatient children and long ferry crossings. You'll also see it under the name 'Castel Camping La Garangeoire'.
A flight from London to Nantes is about 90 minutes and then it's just over an hour to the holiday park. Meanwhile, a ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo is 9 hours and then you've got a 3 hour drive. Eurotunnel is quicker than the ferry, but it's a 7 hour drive in France.
Once you've finally arrived you'll be treated to a holiday park with outstanding reviews of 94%, including 4.7/5 on Google Reviews and TripAdvisor.
It's also got an abundance of onsite facilities, with five swimming pools to splash around in (mostly outdoors) as well as a 'lagoon pool' next to a beach.
Other options include kids' clubs, horse riding, playgrounds, cycling, archery, pedalos, table tennis and fishing. The local area is the Vendee which has a good choice of beaches.
Price: £1846 for a week in a three-bedroom Premium static home/caravan in August 2026. They do have cheaper grades of accommodation at this resort, but they weren't available when we checked.

4. La Plage Campsite, Brittany - (beach access, two swimming pools and slides)
La Plage Campsite is another good quality caravan holiday park competing for your attention in Brittany. Don't be put off by the word 'campsite' - it's got proper accommodation that won't fall over in the wind.
It ticks a lot of boxes for me despite not being massive, with easy walking access to the beach, waterslides, two outdoor swimming pools, kids' clubs in peak season, a restaurant (just off site, but overlooks the sea), tennis courts, table tennis, boules, crazy golf and a playground.
If you want to bring the car, it's a 9-hour ferry from Portsmouth followed by a 2hr 30m car drive from St Malo. If you fly, it's 90 minutes from London to Rennes and then two hours in the car.
There are static homes, or you can camp. Dogs are allowed at this one too.
Review scores are impeccable. It currently receives ratings of 4.7/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.5/5 on Google Reviews - which works out as 92%.
Price: £1140 for a week in a 'Classic' mobile home for a family of four in August 2026.

5. Eurocamp Le Port de Plaisance, Brittany (large indoor pool, great reviews)
The swimming pools and water park are probably the trump card at Le Port de Plaisance in (usually) sunny Brittany. You're getting a holiday park with outstanding reviews of 88%, as well as easily accessible beaches and a competitive price. That glowing review score includes 4.3/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.5/5 on Google Reviews.
Le Port de Plaisance is mid-sized by Eurocamp's standards and has a large indoor swimming pool with slides. There are also some small outdoor pools. If you don't want to spend the whole week in your trunks, there are plenty of other options. Highlights include a restaurant and bar, a programme of activities (karaoke, quizzes etc), table tennis, pool, boules (the French love a bit of boules) and a playground.
If you get around to leaving the site, the nearest beach is about a mile away in Bénodet.
From South West England you are likely to catch a nine hour ferry from Portsmouth or six hour ferry from Poole. It is then a three hour drive. From the South East you are better to get the 35 minute Eurotunnel/Le Shuttle from Folkstone and then drive 7 1/2 hours from Calais.
Price: £1043 for a week in a Comfort holiday home for a family of four in August 2026.
There are several grades of holiday homes available, starting with Classic (£), which wasn't available for the dates we checked. Upgrades include Comfort (££), Premium (£££) and Ultimate (££££) holiday homes. Upgrades offer things like larger beds and ensuite facilities. The more expensive accommodation comes with bedding and towels, whilst it is an optional extra with cheaper accommodation.

6. La Baie Campsite, Brittany (small park, outdoor swimming pools)
La Baie Campsite's location is its best feature, with two sandy beaches within walking distance.
The park is relatively small, but it does have a couple of outdoor swimming pools. There are various sports on offer, including basketball, badminton and the obligatory boules. There are also a couple of playgrounds and you can hire bikes for doing a bit of local exploring.
Again, don't get put off by the word 'campsite' - the site has a plenty of static homes for hire. It is sometimes known as Camping de la Baie.
Customer reviews are very positive, averaging 87% across the main review sites (4.3/5 on Google Reviews and 4.4/5 on TripAdvisor).
It's not quite as easy to get to as some French holiday parks. Most people go for a 9 hour ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, followed by a 2hr 30m drive. If that sounds too much, then the alternative is a 90 minute flight from London to Rennes and then two hours in the car.
Price: £856 for a week for a family of four in August 2026 in a two bedroom 'Classic' static home.

7. Sole di Sari Campsite, Corsica (simple park for exploring, great scenery)
I'm sure it was just me that didn't actually know Corsica is a region of France.
The Sole di Sari holiday park makes our top 10 mostly on location, as it combines beaches, forests and mountains (e.g. Monte Cinto). The park is quite a small one, but there is somewhere for a swim, as well as table tennis, a kids' club, a playground and somewhere to eat onsite during the high season.
It's a couple of hours flight from London, and you will probably want to hire a car to get exploring. The local area has things like watersports to try out.
Reviews are red hot, with a rating of 4.3/5 on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews (or 86% overall).
Price: £1315 for a week in August 2026 in a three bedroom Comfort holiday home for a family of four. They also had a glamping-style property for about £175 less.
This is a Eurocamp site, which has a grading system that goes: Classic (£), Comfort (££), Premium (£££) and Ultimate (££££). A Comfort XL model is one with a bit more space than a standard Comfort caravan. See our Eurocamp grading guide.

8. Les Ranchisses Campsite, Ardeche (swimming pools, canoeing and spa)
Brace yourself for a long car journey if you go for Les Ranchisses in the south of France. You'll need to drive for 9 hours from the Eurotunnel at Folkestone. Alternatively, you can fly to Lyon or Montpellier and then drive for a couple of hours.
The park is relatively small, but it has lots onsite including three outdoor swimming pools and a covered pool in the 'wellness centre'. There are also spa type things on offer, such as a jacuzzi and massage which you'll pay extra for.
During the summer months there are kids' clubs on offer and the site also has places you can eat. Other things to do include tennis, table tennis, boules (of course), three playgrounds and volleyball.
I guess the main downside is that you're a long way from the coastline, but the South of France does tend to get better weather at least. You can also try out canoeing at Les Ranchisses.
Reviews average 4.2/5 on Trip Advisor and 4.5/5 on Google Reviews, which works out at 87% on my calculator. Again, they have plenty of static homes to hire, despite being called a 'Campsite'.
Price: £1657 for a week in a three-bedroom Premium holiday home, for two adults and two children in August 2025. Prices for 2026 weren't available when we checked.

9. Center Parcs Les Trois Forêts, Moselle (outstanding swimming pool, woodland setting)
Our second French Center Parcs resort in this guide is Les Trois Forêts, which opened in 2010. That translates as 'the three forests', although you probably figured that out already...
Les Trois Forêts is slightly behind Center Parcs Le Boix Aux Daims on review scores, but it's still got a fantastic swimming pool and it is sometimes quite a bit cheaper. Les Trois Forêts is also the largest Center Parcs resort in France, based on the area that it covers.
You get unlimited free access to the park's Aqua Mundo ('water world'), which has rapids, a lazy river, hot tubs, flume rides and a wave machine. You can also sign up for a big choice of pay-as-you-go activities, including paintball, high ropes, minigolf, kayaking and bike hire. We've found these to be considerably cheaper than activities at Center Parcs UK. Expect to pay about £15 for an activity such as high ropes, rather than about £40 in the UK.
Besides the activities, you get a big choice of different types of accommodation, including 'cottages', which are similar to the woodland lodges at Center Parcs in the UK.
Overall, Les Trois Forêts 3.6/5 on TripAdvisor and 3.9/5 on Google Reviews. That works out as 75%, compared to 77% for Center Parcs Le Boix Aux Daims. On the plus side, reviewers rave about the swimming pool at Les Trois Forêts and give it a score of 4.2/5.
Les Trois Forêts is a similar distance from Calais as Center Parcs Le Boix Aux Daims. It will take you about 5 hours 30 minutes to drive. There is a French Center Parcs resort that is a much shorter drive from the UK - called Le Lac d'Ailette - but its review scores and facilities aren't as good.
As with other Center Parcs in Europe, it is usually cheaper to book through the French version of the Center Parcs website rather than CenterParcs.eu. You pay in Euros regardless of which site you choose and you get the same holiday via both sites. We've found that the saving can be £100+ for the same holiday.
Price: £1885 for a week's holiday for a family of four in August 2026, staying in a two bedroom cottage.

10. Le Ranolien Campsite, Brittany (six swimming pools, coastal location, great reviews)
Le Ranolien is a big and busy holiday park with plenty to do onsite. It's in Brittany so you can get across the water in about six hours from Plymouth and then it's another 1hr 20m in the car. You could fly to Brest (heehee) but the car is the simpler option for most people.
The park itself has (count 'em) six swimming pools, some indoor and some outdoor. The nearby coastline is rockier than Sylvester Stallone but is nice for a walk.
Other time-filling entertainments include badminton, crazy golf, volleyball, table tennis, adventure playgrounds, discos, a creperie and pizzeria.
You'll also find it referred to as 'Yelloh! Village Le Ranolien' with customers on Google Reviews giving it a very impressive 4.5/5. Meanwhile, TripAdvisor's rating is 4.5/5. We'll call that 89% overall, for the purposes of easier comparison with the other French holiday parks in this guide.
Price: £1210 for a family of four staying for a week in August 2026 in a two bedroom 'cottage'.

Frequently asked questions about holiday parks in France
How much does it cost to get to a French holiday park?
To give you a very rough idea, during August, you can expect to pay about £250 to £600 to take a car across via the Eurotunnel or about £500 to take a car from Portsmouth to Cherbourg with four passengers (those are very, very rough return prices which will be affected by when you book, how flexible you are, what day and time you travel and whether you have trailers etc).
How long is the ferry crossing to France?
It ranges from about 35 minutes to 11 hours. Here are the approximate crossing times for car ferries and trains from the UK to France:
- Folkestone to Calais Eurotunnel/LeShuttle train - 35 minutes
- Dover to Calais ferry - 90 minutes
- Dover to Dunkirk ferry - 2 hours
- Newhaven in Sussex to Dieppe ferry - 4-5 hours
- Poole to Cherbourg ferry - 4 hours 30 minutes
- Plymouth to Roscoff ferry - 5 hours
- Portsmouth to Cherbourg ferry - 6-9 hours
- Portsmouth to Caen ferry - 6-8 hours
- Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry - 6-10 hours
- Portsmouth to St Malo ferry - 11 hours
Which part of France is best for caravan holiday parks?
Brittany is usually the easiest and most popular region for UK families because it has lots of big, well-reviewed parks and is reachable by ferry or a manageable drive from Calais.
Is it easier to drive or fly to a French holiday park?
Driving works best for Brittany and Normandy, especially if you’re using Eurotunnel or shorter ferries. Flying can make more sense for areas like the Vendee, Dordogne or Corsica, where the onward drive from northern ports is long.
Are French “campsites” actually suitable for families who want a proper holiday home?
Yes. Many French “campsites” include mobile homes/static homes (not just tents), often with pools, kids’ clubs in peak season, restaurants and evening entertainment.
