Parkdean Resorts Whitley Bay is your best bet if you're looking for a holiday park near Sunderland or Newcastle but don't have a car. From Newcastle, you get the Metro to Whitley Bay and then catch a bus, which takes about 10 minutes to the holiday park. From Central Station it's about an hour in total. From Sunderland, you get the Metro into Newcastle (change at Monument Metro) and then carry on to Whitley Bay. It's about 90 minutes in total.

For me, the winner is Parkdean Resorts Whitley Bay, with Haven Haggerston Castle not far behind. The easier access to the beach is the clincher, as that's a key part of a family holiday for me. The beach at Parkdean Resorts Whitley Bay is a walk, whilst the beach at Haggerston Castle is a drive - so it's less practical for quick trips after tea. The shorter drive is also a big bonus in Whitley Bay's favour.
