5 Best Holiday Parks and Beach Resorts in Italy 2024
I must admit, a holiday park in Italy does seem a little more appealing than a week in Skegness (sincere apologies to Skegness). You get almost guaranteed sunshine during the summer months, so you stand around an outdoor swimming pool without turning blue.
We've chosen five Italian holiday parks and beach resorts that stand out from the rest thanks to a combination of good swimming pools or waterparks, beachside or lakeside locations, value for money and kids' activities. We've also featured some that are well placed for exploring popular Italian attractions such as the canals of Venice or the leaning Tower of Pisa.
Direct flights from the UK to Italy take about two or three hours. Some holiday parks are close enough to the beach that you could make do without a car.
You will notice that Italian holiday parks are often referred to as 'campsites'. Don't worry, the accommodation is more like the caravans and static homes you get at Haven, Away Resorts or Parkdean Resorts in the UK.
Anyway, without further ado, here are our five best caravan holiday parks in Italy.

1. Marina di Venezia near Venice (huge resort, large waterpark, beachside, great reviews, good value)
Winner: Best Value Holiday Park in Italy
If you are looking for a small holiday park in Italy...don't stay at Marina di Venezia. It is absolutely colossal with a staggeringly big waterpark.
It makes our top five holiday parks in Italy because of its reviews rather than its scale. Customers give it a score of 4.6/5 on Google Reviews or 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor. That's an exceptionally good score for a large holiday park (in our experience, smaller resorts get the best reviews because people have less to complain about).
There are shallow pools and a watery playground for younger ones and a more straightforward pool for swimming lengths. Be warned that the pools are popular and will be busy during the summer months. By my count, there are seven slides and flumes as well as smaller ones for toddlers. The highlight is a U-Shaped slide where you sit in a boat and whoosh up and down.
As well as the half-a-dozen swimming pools and waterslides, you've also got easy access to a big sandy beach where you can try out watersports. Other activities include high ropes, minigolf, playgrounds, soft play, table tennis and an outdoor gym.
I will say again that Marina di Venezia is a really large site. There are about 3000 holiday homes and pitches in total. That puts it roughly on a par with a Butlins resort in the UK (although I prefer the look of the Marina di Venezia Beach than the beach at Bognor).
In this part of Italy, you can expect peak temperatures of about 26-28 Celsius in summer. May and September are a bit cooler, with peaks of around 22-24 Celsius.
If you want a day out, you can catch a 30 minute ferry to Venice for about £10-£15.
The closest airport is Venice, which is a two hour flight from the UK. It's then a drive of about one hour to the resort.
Price: £1004 for a week in August 2024, staying in a 'Classic' two-bedroom property. There are four grades of accommodation at Eurocamp resorts like Marina di Venezia, including Classic (£), Comfort (££), Premium (£££) and Ultimate (££££). See our comparison of the Eurocamp grades and what you get for upgrading. That makes it the cheapest of our five outstanding holiday parks in Italy.

2. Quattro Mori Family Village Campsite, Sardinia (small resort, great reviews, beachside)
Quattro Mori Family Village (sometimes known as '4 Mori Family Village') isn't actually part of mainland Italy. You can find it on the Italian Island of Sardinia. The Island is roughly the same size as Wales, so it's well connected and is almost as easy to reach from the UK by plane. Direct flights take about 2 hours 40 minutes.
The holiday park itself is significantly smaller than Marina di Vanezia. In fact, it's around one-tenth of the size and doesn't have anywhere near the range of facilities.
It makes our list for its terrific reviews and beachside location. Customers rate it at 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews.
The range of swimming pools is simple, with one main pool and a smaller pool with a waterslide. Sports onsite include beach volleyball and football. There are also trampolines, a playground for toddlers and evening entertainment.
Price: £1547 for a week in August 2024 in 'Classic' accommodation. That's the cheapest grade for a family of four but you can upgrade to 'Comfort' holiday homes, which cost a little more.

3. Hu Montescudaio, Tuscany (mid-sized, near Pisa, short drive to beach)
Hu Montescudaio can be found on Italy's west coast. Pisa is about an hour north or the port city of Livorno is 45 minutes' drive away. Pisa International Airport is 40 minutes away and there are direct flights from the UK, which take about two hours. If you are avoiding flying but still want to visit Italy then this resort is probably your best bet. It would take about 13 hours to drive from Calais.
The resort sits somewhere in the middle of Quattro Mori (see #2) and Marina di Venezia (see #1) in terms of scale. In UK terms, it is comparable to a mid-sized Haven resort.
You have the choice of three outdoor swimming pools and a couple of waterslides at Hu Montescudaio. There's also a splash area for younger children. Other entertainment includes a couple of playgrounds, an outdoor gym, outdoor chess, basketball and football courts, crazy golf, table tennis and kids' clubs.
Hu Montescudaio holiday park isn't right by the beach (unlike Quattro Mori Family Village and Marina di Venezia), so you'll need to drive about 15 minutes for a beach day out.
Customers give it a glowing score of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.4/5 Google Reviews. That puts it a whisker behind others on this list, but the difference is pretty small.
Price: £1377 for a week in a 'Classic' holiday home for two adults and two children in August 2024.

4. Europa Silvella, Lake Garda (mid-sized, lakeside location)
Europa Silvella isn't by the sea, but is in a rather stunning location overlooking Lake Garda.
That may partly explain its popularity with customers. It currently scores 4.5/5 on Google Reviews and TripAdvisor.
There are two main pools and a smaller splash pool but I would say it is a moderately sized resort rather than a vast entertainment complex. Marina di Venezia and Union Lido are the champions if that's what you want from an Italian holiday park.
Activities include clubs for children, as well as Zumba, yoga and aqua fit for grown ups. Personally, I would rather sit in the jacuzzi and then head for the pizzeria.
Europa Silvella is in Northern Italy, which gets highs of about 27-30 Celsius between June and August. May and September are more like 23-25 Celsius.
The nearest airport is Verona, which is a 50 minute drive from the holiday resort. You can flight direct from London in about two hours.
Price: £1471 for a week in a Comfort holiday home for a week in August 2024. That price is for a two bedroom property with air conditioning.

5. Union Lido Resort, near Venice (huge resort, excellent waterpark, beachside location, expensive)
Union Lido is another absolutely huge Italian holiday park that gets exceptionally good reviews (4.5/5 on both Google Reviews and TripAdvisor).
In many ways it is similar to Marina di Venezia, which we waffled on about at great length earlier. In fact, the two are only 15 minutes apart and share the same long stretch of beach. As a result, it's a good choice if you fancy catching a short ferry to spend a day or two in Venice.
Union Lido's swimming pool is more of a waterpark than somewhere you will be doing lengths. There's a lazy river and a couple of splash parks plus seven main waterslides and flumes, as well as some smaller slides.
The local beach has volleyball and pedalos for hire whilst the park has minigolf, playgrounds, a gym and restaurants.
As with Marina di Venezia, your best bet is to fly for two hours from the UK to Venice Airport and then drive for about an hour.
Price: £2800 for a family of four, staying for a week in August 2024. That is considerably more expensive than Marina di Venezia but keep in mind that we only looked at one set of dates.

Price comparison of the five best holiday parks in Italy
Staying at an Italian holiday park in August isn't actually all that much more expensive than staying at a good quality UK resort. Of course, you will need to add on several other costs such as the cost of flights, car hire or a taxi from the Italian airport, parking at the airport in the UK, a suitable local souvenir to thank the neighbours for feeding the cat and so on.
For a rough price comparison, we looked for the budget grade accommodation at each resort. We searched in December 2023 for holidays in early August 2024. From cheapest to most expensive:
