Best Caravan Holiday Parks And Lodges Near Nottingham And Derby 2026
Author: Robbie Lane | Last updated: 18 January 2026
Getting to the coast is a monumental effort from Nottingham and Derby, but there are some highly rated inland holiday parks and lodges in picturesque locations, which are only a short drive away. It's perfectly possible to find yourself in the rolling hills of the Peak District or the woodland landscape of North Nottinghamshire in about 30 - 60 minutes.
If you want a holiday park near Derby, you'll find a decent choice around Ashbourne, Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton. Needless to say, the focus here is on walking and cycling rather than sandcastles and candy floss. If you're lucky you'll get a hot tub.
The Peak District is also a good choice for a holiday park near Nottingham. However, you also have the choice of some classy woodland lodge resorts near Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park. These tend to be quite spacious and have better than average accommodation.
Our guide includes driving times to help you make your mind up, as well as advice on review scores and facilities. We've visited most of these holiday parks ourselves, so you can hopefully offer some proper insight!

Our visit to Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park
"You'll find Ashbourne Heights in a pretty rural part of Derbyshire, a couple of miles outside of the upmarket town of Ashbourne. As we came off the main road, we began to climb up a long steep hill. This is always a good sign when you're going on holiday because it means you're likely to get good views from your accommodation."

Our visit to Darwin Forest
"As we explored and got to know Darwin Forest a little better, we figured out that there are quite a few facilities that are used by guests and also by non-guests. This is a good model because it means that they can provide good facilities but don't just have to rely on bookings, which may well slow down during the winter months."

Our visit to Center Parcs
"For a lot of people, the swimming pool is the main reason to visit Center Parcs. I'm certainly in that category and we made the most of the Subtropical Paradise Pool. Overall, we visited five times - including on our arrival and departure days (you can use the facilities all day, even when you aren't yet checked in)."
