10 Best Caravan Holiday Parks And Resorts In Netherlands And Holland - 2024
The Netherlands (or Holland as it's sometimes called, rather inaccurately) is a modestly sized country which is easy to reach from the UK.
It's got a large number of holiday parks to choose from, including some near the Dutch coast. Popular holiday park chains in the Netherlands include Center Parcs, Roompot and Landal but there are also lots of independent parks and holiday resorts attached to Dutch theme parks.
If you're bringing the car on the 35 minute Eurotunnel/Le Shuttle at Folkestone you can drive from Calais to the Dutch border in a couple of hours. There are also ferries from Harwich in Essex to The Hook of Holland in about 7 hours,
If you're travelling from the North of England or the Midlands then you can get the ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam in about 16 hours or Hull to Rotterdam in about 11 hours.
We've picked out 10 of the best caravan holiday parks and lodge resorts in the Netherlands and Holland by looking at customer reviews, location, onsite facilities, value for money and awards. For our price comparison, we looked for the price for a week's holiday for a family of four in August 2024. We looked for the cheapest accommodation available.

1. Center Parcs Het Meerdal (busy park, lots of activities, indoor swimming)
**Winner: best value holiday park in the Netherlands and Holland**
There are nine Center Parcs across the Netherlands and Holland, but we've picked out a couple of the best ones for our top 10.
Het Meerdal is one of the closer Dutch Center Parcs to the UK - you can get from Calais to the park in just a little over three hours. It scores a solid 4/5 from reviewers on TripAdvisor, which puts it on a par with the UK's Center Parcs (Center Parcs Europe is a different company to Center Parcs UK, although they do share a lot in common).
Het Meerdal is also one of the better value Center Parcs in the Netherlands, at least according to our price comparison. It was generally the cheapest or at least one of the cheapest Center Parcs, despite its strong reviews. And according to the official blurb, there are more than 100 things to do at Het Meerdal which makes it one of the best equipped Dutch Center Parcs. Options include swimming, horse riding, canoeing, playgrounds, tennis, bowling, minigolf, kids' clubs and fitness clubs (most activities cost extra).
The park was built in the 1970s, so it isn't as new as a couple of the UK Center Parcs but it offers a lot and is often considerably cheaper than the UK's parks.
Price: £1142 for a family of four, staying for a week in August 2024 in the cheapest accommodation available. The price doesn't include activities, most of which are charged separately at Center Parcs. See our Dutch Center Parcs guide for more details.

Center Parcs Top Tip: Booking via CenterParcs.fr is nearly always cheaper than CenterParcs.com for exactly the same holiday (often more than €100 cheaper for a week in summer). Your browser will translate CenterParcs.fr to English if you don't speak French! Read more
2. Eurocamp Duinrell, South Holland (resort within a theme park, outstanding water park)
Eurocamp has dozens of holiday resorts around Europe but you won't find one with better facilities than Eurocamp Duinrell. It sits within a popular theme park which combines a good choice of rides with an impressive water park. There's enough here to please junior school and secondary school aged children.
Eurocamp gives you free entry to the theme park with your stay and you also get a discount to the waterpark. It costs 5-10 Euros for the waterpark at the time of writing.
The waterpark has indoor and outdoor swimming pools along with a whopping 21 flumes and waterslides. The climate in Holland is not significantly warmer than the UK, so it will be more appealing during the peak summer months of July and August.
Once you've dried off from the swimming pools you can explore the Duinrell theme park. It's a popular mid-sized theme park which I would say is similar in scale to somewhere like Paultons Park or Gulliver's Kingdom in the UK.
There are about 40 rides in total at Duinrell including rollercoasters suitable for younger and older visitors. Other highlights include two log flumes, a pendulum ride, a 'top spin' ride (similar to Rameses Revenge which used to be at Chessington), a toboggan run, bumper cars, bumper boats, trampolines, a pirate ship, a monorail and trainline, an eight lane slide, playgrounds, soft play and a princess castle.
Eurocamp's accommodation are chalets/static homes which are suitable for 4-8 people.
Finding review scores for Eurocamp Duinrell is a little complicated as many of the reviews you will read are actually written by day visitors to the theme park. However, with a bit of digging we found this Feefo page which gives an average score of 4.2/5 for Eurocamp's accommodation.
If you want to the car then I would probably go for the 40 minute Eurotunnel/LeShuttle from Folkestone to Calais and then drive about 4 1/2 hours to Eurocamp Duinrell. The other popular option is a Stena Line ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland which takes 6 1/2 hours. It's only 45 minutes drive once you reach the Netherlands.
Price: £1558 for a family of four in a Eurocamp Azure Plus holiday home for a week in August 2024. They also had a five night break for about £1000 which works out cheaper per night.

3. Center Parcs de Kempervennen (large and busy park, indoor swimming, lots of activities)
Another Center Parcs worth considering in the Netherlands and Holland is Center Parcs de Kempervennen. It shares a lot in common with Center Parcs Het Meerdal but was slightly more expensive in most of the price comparisons we carried out.
Center Parcs de Kempervennen is in the South of the Netherlands, so you can reach it easily from the UK by car. Once you've got to Calais, it's only about 3 hours which is about my limit with children in the car...
Customer reviews are about 4/5 and it has a similar number of activities to Het Meerdal (about 100) including several that you pay extra for. As well as the usual minigolf, playgrounds and swimming you can also sign up for unusual holiday park activities such as skiing lessons, snorkelling and diving.
There's a big choice of holiday accommodation at Center Parcs de Kempervennen including a houseboat if you want something a bit quirky (and don't get seasick).
Price: £1207 for a family of four, staying for a week in August 2024 in the cheapest accommodation available. That price doesn't include most activities but you can use the swimming pool for free.

4. Landal Miggelenberg, Gelderland (large parks, swimming pools, sports)
Landal Miggelenberg is another Landal park that scores very highly with customers, averaging 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.4/5 on Google reviews when we checked.
It's got an indoor swimming pool, which has some slides and splash park type features though not quite to the same scale as Landal Hof van Saksen.
It also has a large playground, minigolf, woodland walks, bike hire, archery, bowling, table tennis, zip wires and three restaurants (including a heated outdoor one). There are also spa facilities for grown ups.
The site is large with about 270 different properties, ranging from small two person bungalows at the cheaper end to an 18 person bungalow which has the cutesy name of the 'reunion bungalow'. There are several luxury upgrades such as cottages with saunas.
It will take you about four hours to drive from Calais to the site. Alternatively, you can get a 7 hour ferry from Harwich in Essex or a 16 hour ferry from Newcastle and then drive for about 90 minutes.
Price: £937 for a family of four staying for a week in August 2024 in a two-bedroom bungalow.

5. Landal Rabbit Hill, Gelderland (large holiday park, swimming pool, family friendly activities)
Landal's Rabbit Hill shares a lot in common with Landal Miggelenberg which is also in the Gelderland region of the Netherlands.
Customer reviews for Landal Rabbit Hill are similarly impressive, with an average of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google reviews. As you'd expect from Landal, it's family friendly with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Again, it's not quite the waterpark you get at Landal Hof van Saksen but it's still a nice addition.
Other sports and activities include tennis, minigolf, bike hire, bowling, laser tag, playgrounds and onsite places to eat. The posher accommodation has a jacuzzi bath and log burner or there are cheaper options if you're on a budget (bear in mind that some activities cost extra).
It takes about 3 1/2 or 4 hours to drive from Calais to Landal Rabbit Hill.

6. Landal Hof van Saksen, Drenthe (big waterslides, great reviews, large holiday park)
Landal is one of the biggest names in the Dutch holiday park market and is often seen as an alternative to Center Parcs around Europe. There are many good ones to choose from but Hof van Saksen in Nooitgedacht has a good case for being the best Landal Greenpark for a busy family holiday in the Netherlands.
Customers - at the time of writing - were giving the park a review score of 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.6/5 on Google. We spent a happy afternoon adding together the review scores of all the Landal Greenparks in the Netherlands and Holland and concluded that this was the highest rated.
Landal Hof van Saksen is particularly good if you want to swim, as it has three impressive waterslides and a 'wild water course' which drags you round for more than 100 metres.
Once you're dried off you can eat in five restaurants, go bowling, waste some time in the indoor play area, jump on a trampoline, hire a bike and spend some time in the spa (some stuff costs extras). You can either stay in a normal sized lodge, which are for groups of 4, 6 or 8 or they do have some big 'farmhouses' which sleep up to 24 people.
If you're driving from Calais, it will take you about 5 hours after the 35 minute Eurotunnel.
Price: £2179 for a family of four to stay in a comfort two-bedroom bungalow for a week in August 2024.

7. Efteling Bosrijk, North Brabant (theme park resort with swimming pool)
Efteling claims to be the largest theme park in the Netherlands, with rollercoasters and water rides as well as tamer rides for younger children and dads like me who get nauseous on the teacups.
It's also home to a holiday park resort called Efteling Bosrijk so you can explore the theme park without having to endure a long drive with exhausted children. There's a playground, restaurant and swimming pool which has a similar gothic style as the theme park.
The self catering holiday park style accommodation on offer includes woodland and lakeside lodges and includes entry to the park.
It makes our list thanks to positive customer reviews which were averaging 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.7/5 on Google reviews at the time of writing.
Efteling Bosrijk is towards the south of the Netherlands, so it will only take you three hours to drive from Calais to the resort.
Price: £846 for a family of four staying for three nights with four days' entry to the theme park in August 2024. Note that this is for three nights, whereas the other price comparisons we've done are for a whole week, so we won't include it in our comparison at the bottom of the page.

8. Park Berkenrhode, Gelderland (outdoor swimming pool, one hour to Amsterdam)
Park Berkenrhode is a classy-lodge kind of place, which is in a woodland setting. It's probably better suited for people looking for decent accommodation for exploring the Netherlands rather than endless onsite entertainment. You can get to Amsterdam in about an hour or it's about half an hour to Arnhem.
It doesn't have an indoor swimming pool, but there's an outdoor swimming pool in the warmer months (so bad luck if you'd hoped for a dip in the middle of January). There's also a playground and a bar and restaurant.
When we checked it was scoring 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.4/5 on Google reviews. It'll take you about 3 1/2 hours to drive from Calais.
Price: £1168 for a week in a two-bedroom holiday home for a family of four in August 2024.

9. Bergvliet Villas/Landgoed Bergvliet, North Brabant (golf resort, wellness centre, lodges)
Bergvliet Villas/Landgoed Bergvliet is another one that is suited to families or couples looking for a posh place to stay and explore, rather than the onsite entertainment you get with some Center Parcs, Landal or Roompot holiday parks in the Netherlands.
Bergvliet Villas/Landgoed Bergvliet's main attractions are the golf course and wellness facilities onsite (massages, yoga etc). The accommodation is certainly one step up from caravans with wobbly walls - these are more like modern detached lodges.
The site opened relatively recently and scores around 4/5 on most review sites. Driving to the site from Calais should take you less than three hours.
Price: £3975 for a week in a two-bedroom villa for a week in August 2024 for a family of four. There are cheaper properties but they had sold out when we checked.

10. Vakantiepark De Berkenhorst, Gelderland (indoor swimming pool, leafy location)
Vakantiepark De Berkenhorst scores around 4/5 from most reviewers on Google reviews, and a higher score on the Roompot website.
It offers a good mix of a leafy location with a range of onsite activities. For rainy days there's bowling, table tennis and a modestly sized indoor swimming pool with a flume, sauna and hot tub. On sunnier days you can try out minigolf, volleyball or hire bikes.
The accommodation is amongst trees and a few of the properties are alongside a lake.
It's also one of the better value holiday parks in the Netherlands that we've found in our price comparisons.
If you want a day out, you can get to Amsterdam in about an hour by car.
Price: £806 for a family of four staying in a 'bungalow' for a week in August 2024.
