5 of the best Newquay caravan holiday parks - 2021
Newquay is one of Cornwall's busiest holiday resorts, thanks to its family friendly attractions and sandy beaches.
It's a good choice if you want surfing lessons and plenty to do, rather than if you want a week away from it all. Newquay is also a good base for exploring Cornwall, as it's less remote than the Lizard Peninsula, Land's End or St Ives.
There's a very good choice of caravan holiday parks in and around Newquay, including big names (Haven, Parkdean Resorts) as well as quieter family-run sites.
Here's our pick of 5 of the best Newquay caravan holiday parks:

Here's our pick of 5 of the best Newquay caravan holiday parks:
1. Haven Perran Sands Holiday Park (busy Haven holiday park, indoor swimming pool, beachside location)
**Latest Haven Offers: August 2021 from £549, June from £119, May half term from £299**
Haven has got two holiday parks in Cornwall - Perran Sands in the Newquay area and Riviere Sands which is in the more remote section around the South West of the county.
Family friendly caravan park Perran Sands gets a solid 4/5 from most reviewers and it's very well equipped. It's also got the South West coastal path nearby and it's walking distance to a nice stretch of beach. It's got indoor and outdoor swimming pools, surf and paddleboard lessons, food outlets, evening entertainments, a sports court and adventure golf. Getting to Newquay itself is a 20 minute drive, but you'll spend a lot of your time at the nearer beaches. Haven is one of the biggest names in the caravan holiday park market in the UK. You'll generally find they cost a little bit more than rival Parkdean Resorts holiday parks (lots of them were formerly called Park Resorts holiday parks). Perran Sands also has glamping tents and yurts which are usually cheaper than a caravan or chalet. If you want to upgrade from a caravan, there are posher 'beach houses' which are more like the lodges that you get at a lot of UK holiday parks. Price: £1419 for a week in a standard caravan for a family of four in early August 2021. |
2. Piran Meadows Resort and Spa (posh park, indoor swimming pool, short drive to the beach)
Piran Meadows Resort and Spa is at the posher end of Cornwall's holiday park market, but prices are comparable to others which don't get such glowing reviews.
It's exceedingly well equipped with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as a sauna, fitness suite, golf simulator, soft play, archery, fencing, horse riding, quad bikes and somewhere to eat. Bear in mind that some activities cost extra. Reviews are very good, averaging 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor or 8.5/10 on Hoseasons. The main downside is that it's a 10 minute drive inland from Newquay, so you can't walk to the beach. You can pick between basic caravans or more expensive ones which come with hot tubs. Price: £1319 for a week in a 'St Austell 2' caravan for a family of four in August 2021 |
3. Hendra Holiday Park (indoor swimming pool, great reviews, short drive to beach)
**Winner: best value Newquay holiday park**
Hendra Holiday Park is another very well equipped Newquay holiday park with loads to do onsite for families. It's a couple of miles from the beach, but reviews are amongst the best in Cornwall, averaging about 4.5/5.
The park is busy with indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the indoor one has three flumes), as well as activities for kids, places to eat, playgrounds and a skate park. They also do some more unusual activities such as lifeguard training. It's about 10 minutes by car to the seafront at Newquay where there are various family friendly things to do, such as Newquay Activity Centre. I'd say Hendra Holiday Park is a good choice if you want somewhere you can spend a couple of days onsite. It's big and busy, so it's not one for someone looking for a week of silence and solitude. Price: £1245 for a week in a Clowance caravan for a family of four in August 2021 |
4. Porth Beach Holiday Park (quiet holiday park, great reviews, beachside location)
**Winner: cheapest Newquay holiday park**
Porth Beach Holiday Park is a great choice if you want a quieter holiday park to use as a base for exploring Newquay and the Cornish coast.
It doesn't have the facilities of other holiday parks in Newquay but reviews are consistently excellent (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor) and there's a pretty beach only a few metres away. Porth Beach is one of the most popular and family friendly in the area, so it's a real benefit to not be fighting for a parking space in the summer months. The caravans get good strong reviews and the park is only a couple of miles from the centre of Newquay. There's no indoor or outdoor swimming pool, so my advice would be to stay at Porth Beach during the warmer months when you won't be searching for somewhere dry on a rainy day. Having said that, Newquay itself has some rainy day activities including Blue Reef Aquarium and Waterworld indoor swimming pool. Price: £1089 for a week in a Rio caravan for a family of four in August 2021. It was actually a 6 berth caravan, but it was the cheapest option for a family of four people. |
5. Crantock Beach Holiday Park (beachside location, drive to Newquay, some facilities)
Crantock Beach Holiday Park is in a really good location, within walking distance of a couple of sandy beaches and the South West coastal path.
It's run by Parkdean Resorts, which has got a few caravan sites in the county. We've picked this one partly due to its location, but also because it gets solid reviews of 4 or 4.5 out of 5. The park itself doesn't have a swimming pool unfortunately, but it does have some other family friendly things to do including a play area, crazy golf, evening entertainment and a fish and chip shop. Ideally, you'll need a car as it will take you about 15 minutes to get to the centre of Newquay. Price: £1139 for a week in a 'Roseland' caravan for four people in August 2021 (sleeps up to six people in two bedrooms). |
Price comparison: 5 of Newquay's best caravan holiday parks
Our price comparison looked for the cheapest accommodation available for a family of four. We wanted a holiday in early August 2021 for two adults and two children and searched for it in November 2020. We didn't include any extras or upgrades, such as bringing a pet. Here's the result:
- Porth Beach Holiday Park - £1089 **Winner: cheapest holiday park**
- Crantock Beach Holiday Park - £1139
- Hendra Holiday Park - £1245 **Winner: best value holiday park**
- Piran Meadows Resort and Spa - £1319
- Haven's Perran Sands Holiday Park - £1419
