10 Best Caravan Holiday Parks And Resorts In Spain - 2024
If you spent your last holiday watching the rain pour down a caravan window then you might consider a holiday park in Spain.
There are several highly rated Spanish holiday resorts with waterparks, large outdoor swimming pools, family-friendly entertainment as well as things like spas and hot tubs.
Most Spanish holiday parks can be found in these regions:
Wherever you go in Spain, you can expect temperatures to regularly reach the high twenties during the peak of summer.
Don't be confused by the word 'campsite' which you'll see popping up. Europeans use the word to describe family friendly caravan holiday parks, which are more like Haven and Parkdean resorts rather than a typical English campsite. Most accommodation is better than your usual wobbly caravans - they are more like a lodge that you might get in the UK with a veranda.

Most Spanish holiday parks can be found in these regions:
- The Costa Brava and Costa Dorada have the biggest choice of holiday parks and family resorts in Spain. Many of them are near to Barcelona and Portaventura theme park and average about 21-24 celsius in the summer months.
- Costa Del Sol in the South is the hottest part of Spain, with averages of 22-26 celsius from June to September (compared to 16-19 in London). Costa Brava is also quite far south and warm.
- The Costa Verde is the Northern coast of Spain and is the coolest part of the country. It's still a couple of degrees warmer than the warmest parts of the UK, and it doesn't rain as much.

1. Cambrils Park, Costa Dorada (swimming pool and splash park, kid's club, great reviews)
Cambrils Park isn't the cheapest, but it is one of the best Eurocamp resorts in the whole of Europe, so it is certainly worth a look. Most of the accommodation is two-bedroom bungalows.
The site is large with loads to do for families, including a splash park, swimming pool with slides, mini golf, a gym and spa, clubs for kids and various sports onsite. There aren't any Center Parcs in Spain, but a large site like this is a good alternative which gives loads to do for a week or two. It's also only a 10-minute walk to the beach.
Reviews are well above average (4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews).
If you want to fly, it'll take two hours to nearby Reus and then it's a 10-minute drive to the resort. Alternatively, you can get a 24 hour ferry crossing to Bilbao, followed by a 5-hour drive.
A real plus point is that PortAventura World is only 15 minutes away in the car. For the uninitiated, PortAventura is one of Europe's biggest attractions, with three theme parks on the site. It gets good reviews but is worth factoring in the cost if you want to visit. As a very rough guide, a three-day pass to all three theme parks is about £80 - £90. Or you can just visit the main theme park for about £40 per person for one day. Booking in advance for a specific date is cheaper than buying flexible tickets or just turning up.
Price: £2450 for a week's holiday for a family of four in August 2024. That was staying in an Aloha Bungalow, which sleeps up to six people.

2. Sanguli Campsite, Costa Dorada (swimming pools, beachside location, sports)
Sanguli Campsite is a large holiday park on the Costa Dorada with plenty for families to do and easy access to the beach. The weather in the Costa Dorada is in hotter than the Costa Verde but cooler than the Costa del Sol.
There are four outdoor 'swimming pool complexes', each of which has a different theme. You can try out the 'Relax Pool' for a quieter time or the Fiesta Pool which has a family pool, a waterside bar and three waterslides. The Africa Pool is a nice novelty, with models of safari animals.
Younger children can join in with the kids club and there's an impressive range of sports and activities for guests. There's a tennis court, table tennis tables, basketball, volleyball, crazy golf and trampolines. You can dine at three different restaurants.
Perhaps the biggest appeal is that the sandy beach is only a two minute walk from the park entrance. It's not quite on the beach, but it's pretty close.
You can either stay in Azure holiday homes (which are a bit like the static homes you get at UK holiday parks) or they've got some lodges which are a bit more expensive.
Customer reviews are excellent. Sanguli Campsite scores 4.5/5 on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews.
The nearest Airport is Reus, which takes about two hours to reach from the UK. It's then a drive of 15-20 minutes by car to the resort.
Price: £1931 for a family of four, staying in a two-bedroom Comfort Plus holiday home for a week in August 2024.

3. Playa Joyel Campsite, Costa Verde (sandy beach, basic swimming pool)
This large holiday park is the only one from Spain's north coast to make our top 10. Temperatures on the Costa Verde are not quite as hot as the Costa del Sol in the South of Spain. It's one for people like me who say "do you think the kids have got enough sun cream on?" every 20 minutes.
Having said that, it's certainly warmer than the UK, with an average of 18-21 celsius from June to September compared to 16-19 in London. If you don't mind a long ferry journey (i.e. 24 hours from Portsmouth to Santander) then it's easy to reach, with only a 40-minute drive at the other end.
The park itself gets reviews of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.5/5 on Google reviews with easy access to a sandy beach. It's got a basic swimming pool onsite, but it's certainly not a water park so it's better for people who prefer beaches. Playa Joyel Campsite also has kids' clubs in summer months, restaurants, a couple of playgrounds and various sports including football and basketball.
Price: £1175 for a family of four for a week in August 2024 staying in a two bedroom 'Comfort Plus' static home.

4. Alannia Costa Blanca Resort (busy resort with several pools, great reviews)
Alannia has got a few sites in Spain, which used to be called Marjal resorts. Their Costa Blanca resort is a big and busy holiday park with lots of facilities. It's one for those who want to spend a fair amount of time sipping drinks by the pool in the sunshine.
It's one of the southernmost holiday parks on our list meaning that it's likely to get hotter weather than the rest of Spain.
The centrepiece of the resort's facilities is the outdoor swimming pool with Aztec themed flumes. In all, there are two indoor pools and three outdoor pools, including a a splash park and poolside bar.
There are spa and gym facilities where you can book things like massages, although I can't say I ever manage to use such things on a family holiday.
Sports onsite include tennis, boules and minigolf. You can dine onsite and there is entertainment for adults and children. Reviews were really positive when we checked, averaging 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.4/5 on Google reviews.
One downside is that the beach is about 25 minutes away by car, so it is a better choice for those who are happy to spend a lot of their time in the splash parks and swimming pools onsite.
Alicante airport is about half an hour away from the resort. It's a 2 hr 30 minute flight from London.
Price: £1722 for a 'standard bungalow' for a week for a family of four in August 2024. (This price includes flights from London, as we could only find package deals).

5. Park Playa Bara Campsite, Costa Dorada (swimming pools and splash park, beach nearby)
**Winner: best value holiday park in Spain**
Park Playa Bara Campsite is another big and busy holiday park competing for attention on Spain's eastern coast.
It's got a couple of standout features including an amphitheatre and several family friendly outdoor swimming pools and waterslides (only during the warmer months). You can eat onsite, waste time on the five playgrounds or argue your way round the minigolf course ("that was just a practice shot..."). There are also kids' clubs.
The famous PortAventura World complex of three theme parks is only half an hour's drive away or Barcelona is an hour away in the other direction.
Customer reviews for Park Playa Bara Campsite were averaging 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.5/5 on Google reviews when we checked.
Price: £1138 for a family of four for a week in August 2024, staying in a two bedroom 'Comfort Plus' static home.

6. Castell Montgri Campsite, Costa Brava (several swimming pools, lots of activities onsite)
Castell Montgri Campsite is in a pretty location, with hills overlooking the holiday park.
The beach is about a mile away, so this is one for those who like to spend a lot of time in the onsite pools. There's a really good selection, with three different swimming complexes and a couple of waterslides. I counted five swimming pools in total.
Besides the swimming pools, Castell Montgri Campsite also has a wider than average range of sports in the local area including scuba diving, windsurfing, horse riding and sailing (expect to pay extra for some things).
The kids' club is run by Eurocamp, whereas a lot of kids' clubs are offered by the local parks themselves.
Bear in mind that the site is very hilly, so does require a fair amount of buttock clenching walking. It's perhaps not one for those in wheelchairs.
Reviews average 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google Reviews. Flying to Girona in a couple of hours is probably your best option, unless you fancy a 24-hour ferry followed by a 7-hour drive (don't forget to bring the tablet charger for the kids if you go for that option...).
Price: £1291 for a week in August 2024 for a family of four staying in a two bedroom 'Classic' holiday home.

7. Alannia Guardamar Resort, Costa Blanca (large outdoor pool, walk to the beach)
Alannia Guardamar is another Alannia resort which makes our top 10 thanks to positive reviews and impressive facilities.
It's a much smaller site than nearby Alannia Costa Blanca Resort (the parks are only 20 minutes apart) but it has the advantage that you can walk to the beach, so you won't need to spend as much time onsite. It's also pretty easy to get to, as it's 25 minutes from Alicante airport (fly from London).
There's a large outdoor swimming pool with family friendly splash park areas, as well as a smaller indoor swimming pool, sports court, a poolside bar, gym, evening entertainment and a restaurant onsite. You can book breakfast or half board if you don't want to spend the whole week cooking.
The accommodation is somewhat classier than your average caravans. They're closer to what you'd call a chalet or lodge in the UK.
Reviews were a very impressive 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google when we checked.
Price: £1665 for a week in August 2024 for a family of four, staying in a family bungalow. This price includes flights from London. We could only find availability as a bundle deal.

8. Playa Montroig Camping Resort, Costa Dorada (five swimming pools, beachside location)
Playa Montroig Camping Resort isn't the cheapest holiday park in our Spanish top 10, but it's rather appealing.
For starters, it leads straight onto a beach. This is a big factor for us when we're deciding where to stay.
There are five swimming pools in total. They're all outdoors, but that's less surprising on the Costa Dorada than it would be in Skegness. The pools also have five waterslides and waterpark type activities such as buckets which dump water on your head.
Once you've dried off, you can sign up for massage or a treatment in the spa (for an extra cost). Sports on offer include tennis, table tennis, football, basketball and minigolf. In the evening, there are a couple of onsite restaurants if you don't want to cook.
There's a kids club which is split into several different age groups, as well as things like children's discos. Playa Montroig also has a whopping five different playgrounds.
In summary, you won't be bored.
Reviewers award Playa Montroig with an average score of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.4/5 on Google Reviews. It's a two-hour flight from the UK, followed by a 25-minute drive.
Price: £1715 for a week in a two-bedroom Comfort Plus for a family of four for a week in August 2024.

9. Eurocamp Playa Brava, Costa Brava (large resort with pool and easy beach access)
Playa Brava is another family-friendly resort park competing for your attention along Spain's Costa Brava. It's a large resort with 650 pitches and holiday homes across the site.
There's a large outdoor pool and a smaller toddlers' pool (i.e. a small pool for toddlers rather than a pool for small toddlers...). Other stuff to do includes minigolf, tennis, basketball, volleyball and pool. The highlight is the proximity to the sandy beach (Platja de Pals), which sits right next to the resort.
In the evening, you can dine in the pizzeria and enjoy/endure entertainment at the karaoke stage.
Girona Airport is one hour away by car. Reviews are very good at 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.3/5 on Google reviews.
Price: £1174 for a week in August 2024, staying in a 'Classic' two bedroom holiday home. This is the basic grade at Eurocamp resorts but you can upgrade to Comfort (££) and Premium (£££) models. See our guide to Eurocamp's different grades.

10. Camping Aquarius, Costa Brava (simpler beachside resort, good reviews)
Our final pick is Camping Aquarius, which scores 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor and Google reviews. It's a simpler resort than most, and is used by lots of touring caravans. However, there are some static caravans for hire too.
Camping Aquarius is in a prime spot with the Mediterranean at the edge of the resort park. There is a toddlers' pool, but there isn't an adults' pool or a splash park for older children, so this is one for people who don't mind a bit of sand ending up in their beds each night.
There are plenty of sports onsite, including archery, crazy golf and boules. You can hire bikes and there are some children's activities too.
The flight to Girona airport takes about two hours and then it's 45 minutes in the car to reach the resort.
Price: £1172 for a week in a two-bedroom mobile home for a family of four in August 2024.

Price comparison of 10 of Spain's best caravan holiday parks
We picked our top 10 based on reviews, facilities, location and any other useful information we could gather. For the price comparison we looked for the cheapest accommodation available. We searched in November 2023 for holidays in August 2024, so you might pay more if you book nearer the time.
We just went for the basic accommodation, we didn't include any upgrades or extras. We also didn't include travel costs. Anyway, for what it's worth our price comparison of the best holiday park resorts in Spain looks like this:
