Caravan Holiday Parks And Resorts Near Barcelona 2024

Barcelona is a fantastic city - but most of its accommodation is apartments and hotels. A holiday park on the Catalan coast is a better choice if you're a family looking for a bit more space, a swimming pool and easy beach access. 

There aren't holiday parks with caravan type accommodation within Barcelona itself - but there are several good ones that are about 40-45 minutes' drive away. That makes is practical for day trips if you don't want to be in the city itself.

Once you get to Barcelona, you'll find loads to do including the staggeringly impressive La Sagrada Familia, plus Camp Nou (home of Barcelona FC) and Park Güell.

A lot of holiday parks near to Barcelona are described as 'campsites' or 'camping' resorts. However, they have plenty of chalets or holiday homes rather than just pitches for tents. 

Here are a few holiday parks near Barcelona worth considering:

Camping Enmar Village - 45 minutes' drive to Barcelona​

  • Excellent reviews of 4.4/5 on Google Reviews and 4/5 on TripAdvisor
  • Only a small resort compared to others near to Barcelona. Enmar has about 180 holiday homes and pitches compared to more than 1000 at some Spanish resorts (e.g. Camping Vilanova Park, featured later in this guide).
  • Very nicely done swimming pool area with kids' area, poolside bar and a narrow pool for swimmers.
  • Two small waterslides, which may be a bit tame for older children (and enthusiastic dads).
  • Outstanding sandy beach is about 150 metres walk from the site (i.e. two minute walk).
  • Other sports and activities including modern playground, sports court, 
  • Modern onsite restaurant called The Palm.

  • One hour drive to Barcelona's Airport, which is twice as far as Camping El Garrofer (featured later).

Camping El Garrofer, Sitges - 40 minutes' drive to Barcelona 

  • Scores 3.5/5 on Trip Advisor and 4/5 on Google reviews. ​
  • ​Mid-sized to larger resort which is 15 minutes' walk to a sandy beach
  • Swimming pool and other pools were upgraded in 2022. It now has one main outdoor swimming pool and four waterslides.
  • Choice of two and three bedroom holiday home, which are towards the higher end in terms of quality. 
  • Tends to be mid-priced in test searches when compared to other similar resorts on the Costa Dorada.
  • Onsite kids' clubs for ages 4-14, so you might get a minute's peace! Other entertainment includes a playground, evening shows and aqua aerobics.
  • Sports on offer include bike hire, table tennis, football, volleyball and basketball. However, it doesn't have an onsite tennis court or watersports.
  • Drive of just 25 minutes from Barcelona airport.

Camping Vilanova Park - 45 minutes' drive to Barcelona

  • ​Slightly more popular with customers than Camping El Garrofer (above), scoring 4/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.2/5 on Google Reviews.
  • ​Very large resort with capacity for more than double the number of guests of Camping El Garrofer.
  • Large main swimming pool plus a smaller splash area for young children.
  • Three waterslides near to the main pool.
  • Other fun and games include a bouncy pillow (similar to a bouncy castle), modern minigolf course, sports court, decent playground, table tennis, gym
  • Nearest beach is a 10 minute drive away - there isn't a beach within walking distance unless you're very determined!
  • 30 minutes' drive from Barcelona airport
  • 40 minutes' drive to PortAventura World, which is one of the best theme parks in Europe
  • Tends to be slightly cheaper than Camping El Garrofer in the price comparisons we've done

Caballo de Mar Campsite - 45 minutes' drive to Barcelona

  • Solid scores of 4/5 on TripAdvisor or 4.1/5 on Google reviews​.
  • Mid-sized resort, which is about half the size of Camping Vilanova Park. 
  • Alongside an excellent sandy beach called Playa de La Riera.
  • Choice of three pools, including a main pool, a toddlers' pool and a splash area. There are also four waterslides. 
  • Other facilities include a playground, kayaking, sports court, games room, gym and an onsite bar/restaurant.
  • One hour's drive to Barcelona airport, so not as convenient as Camping Vilanova Park or Camping El Garrofer.
  • ​A mid-priced option, with similar rates to Camping El Garrofer on the dates we checked.
