10 Best Caravan Holiday Parks With Fishing Lakes 2026
Author: Robbie Lane - UK Travel Expert And Enthusiast | Last updated: 4 February 2026
A caravan holiday park with fishing has the potential to keep everyone happy on a family holiday. If you get it right, you can find a resort with swimming pools and kids' clubs for children as well as fishing lakes for grown-ups.
There are restrictions in place at some sites with fishing, so make sure you've got the right licences and permissions before you arrive with a car full of equipment and children. At the time of writing, you need to buy a modestly priced rod licence to fish 'for salmon, trout, freshwater fish, smelt or eel with a rod and line' in fishing lakes. Sea fishing is more relaxed but there are still some rules.
We've picked out a caravan holiday park with fishing from 10 of the UK's most popular holiday counties and resorts. Some have fishing lakes, some are near a beach for sea fishing whilst others are alongside rivers for fishing. Most of the ones we've picked are family-friendly holiday parks rather than adults only resorts.

We chose our top 10 by looking at customer reviews, awards, onsite facilities, number of fishing lakes, location, value for money and from our own visits to 100+ holiday parks around the UK. We did a price comparison by looking for a week in August 2026. You can get a much cheaper week away outside of school holidays.

Our visit to Haven Primrose Valley
"I was already aware before we visited Primrose Valley that it is one of the biggest Haven holiday parks. However, I wasn't quite prepared for how sprawling the site is. It took us a considerable amount of time to get our bearings, and we got a good amount of exercise getting to know every corner of this vast site."

Trevella Holiday Park earns its place for offering two fishing lakes and strong customer reviews, while being a calmer, smaller-feeling base than Cornwall’s big entertainment-led resorts.
Who it’s best for:
Best for families who want fishing lakes and good reviews, and are happy with simpler onsite facilities. The site is run by Park Holidays UK, which is a respected name in the caravan site market. They've got about 40 resorts across the country.

Best for families who want a busy, noisy resort with loads to do, rather than anyone seeking a quiet week just focused on fishing. The park is run by a company called Parkdean Resorts, which has dozens of caravan holiday parks around the UK.
Location:
In Dorset. Not on the beach, but around 40 minutes to Bournemouth and 20 minutes to Weymouth.

7. Solent Breezes Holiday Park, Hampshire
Sea fishing on the Solent, outdoor pool, small and scenic
Why it’s in our top 10:
Solent Breezes Holiday Park is included as the best option here if your priority is sea fishing, thanks to its location directly overlooking the Solent. It is another one run by Park Holidays UK.
Who it’s best for:
Best for sea anglers who want a smaller holiday park with a strong setting, and who are happy with fewer facilities than big resorts.
Location:
Overlooks the Solent in Hampshire, with ship traffic and plenty to watch. For days out, options include Peppa Pig World/Paultons Park (40 minutes) and Marwell Zoo (35 minutes). There's a good shopping outlet called Gunwharf Quays (30 minutes) or you can have a day trip to the Isle of Wight from Portsmouth or Southampton (30 minutes, plus a 25-minute passenger ferry).
Facilities:
Heated outdoor swimming pool, refurbished clubhouse, tennis court, evening entertainment and playground.
Fishing:
Sea fishing from the shore along the Solent. There's a useful review of sea fishing at the site which says that if offers "typical estuary type (fishing) with school bass, sea bream and flatties". It goes on to suggest that "shellfish and worms can be dug here at low tide for bait" and that your best bet is a "stiff carp rod and fixed spool loaded with 8-10lb line and a 2oz lead". Thanks to Keith for that review. He clearly knows more about fishing than I do.
Reviews:
4.2/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.0/5 on Google Reviews (82% overall).
Price: £1139 for a family of four in August 2026 in a Gold Plus caravan (cheapest found for those dates). For about £110 more you can get a larger caravan that sleeps up to eight people, which makes it better value.

Sea fishing beach, indoor pool, good value Isle of Wight base
Why it’s in our top 10:
Thorness Bay makes the list as a value-focused Isle of Wight option with sea fishing nearby, plus indoor pool facilities and access to other Parkdean Resorts on the island.
Who it’s best for:
Best for families who want a cheaper Isle of Wight break with sea fishing potential and standard resort facilities.
Location:
Alongside a beach that’s popular with anglers and sunset-watching. You need to budget for the ferry but you can get cheap Isle of Wight ferry travel if you stay at a Parkdean site. They can usually save you about 50% on the standard fares. Expect to pay about £70 - £150 return for a car and passengers.
Facilities:
Indoor swimming pool, bar and restaurant, sports court, playground and entertainment. Guests get access to the three other Parkdean Resorts on the Isle of Wight, which are Nodes Points, Lower Hyde and Landguard.
Fishing:

Reviews:
74% overall. The resort itself doesn't score quite as highly as some other Isle of Wight holiday parks but it's also one of the cheaper caravan parks on the Island. We certainly enjoyed our visit to the park.
Price: £855 for a family of four in a Bronze Chalet for a week in August 2026.

Our visit to Thorness Bay Holiday Park
When we visited Thorness Bay, we were treated to a terrific sunset at the beach. Several anglers were lined up and at least pretending to fish whilst enjoying the peace and setting sun. We noted that the resort is sprawling rather than being the sort of caravan park with neat rows. Personally, I prefer this setup. It is more confusing when you first arrive but it feels more spacious than the 'neat row' caravan parks that we've visited (e.g. Landguard in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight).

9. Southview Holiday Park, Skegness, Lincolnshire
Two fishing lakes, indoor pool, golf course, good value
Why it’s in our top 10:
Southview Holiday Park in Skegness (also known as Southview Leisure Park) makes the list as a cheaper, family-friendly resort with two fishing lakes, plus enough facilities to work as a full-on family holiday base.
Who it’s best for:
Best for families who want fishing lakes and a classic resort set-up at a lower price, and don’t mind being a short drive from the beach. The site isn't as spacious and spread out as some Parkdean Resorts sites. The caravans-per-square-km rating is fairly high. That means that it doesn't take long to walk around but it may not appeal if you prefer a spacious site.
Location:
Not right by the beach, but around five minutes’ drive to Skegness seafront. Entrance includes the Southview Park Hotel.
Facilities:
Indoor swimming pool, nine-hole golf course, playground, restaurant and sports court. There has been quite a lot of investment recently in facilities at Southview.
Fishing:
Two fishing lakes onsite. Rod licence required.
Reviews:
3.8/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.1/5 on Google Reviews (79% overall).
Price: £845 for a family of four for a week in early August 2026 in a Liphook caravan. That's an eight-person caravan, so it could work out as a very cheap holiday if you could cope with seven other people.

Our visit to Southview Holiday Park
"It's fair to say that Southview has one of the grander entrances that you will find amongst the many Parkdean Resorts that we have visited around the UK. This wasn't our first visit, but I was still impressed with the cascading water feature on both sides of the entrance that lead up to the hotel and caravans..."
