5 Best Neilson Ski Resort Hotels For 2024 Holidays
**Neilson Sale: Save £100 per person on all ski holidays to Les Menuires in France (book by 12/12/23, used code FRANCE100)**
Neilson offer seven six hotels around Europe, including resorts in France, Italy and Andorra. But which is the best Neilson ski hotel?
We've looked at factors such as customer reviews, the price of a typical holiday, distance from the hotel to the slopes, travel time from the UK to the hotel and the number of ski slopes available.
(As an aside, Neilson previously also offered ski chalets where they provided a host/cook and you fill up the rooms with friends and relatives. They aren't currently offering that service, so this guide is just about ski hotels).
Anyway, without further waffle, here's our top 5 Neilson ski resort hotels. Details are correct at the time of writing.

1. Neilson Hotel Del Clos in El Tarter in Andorra - best value, joint best reviews
Andorra isn't as famous for skiing as France or Austria, but we reckon that Neilson Hotel Del Clos in El Tarter is a terrific value option.
It came second in our comparison of customer reviews of all the Neilson ski hotels with a score of 4.5/5 on Google reviews and 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor. At the same time, it was one of the cheapest Neilson ski hotels in our price comparison (see our full comparison here if you've got time on your hands).
It's one of Neilson's 'Mountain Collection' ski hotels which means that you get a few extra bells and whistles such as meals every evening (rather than six nights at some hotels), ski coaching/guiding and the option of childcare.
In other areas, Neilson Hotel Del Clos was somewhere in the middle of our rankings. The resort has 128 different ski runs which isn't anywhere near as many as the 668 at Neilson Chalet Hotel Dolomites Inn (Penia di Canazei) in Val di Fassa in Italy but it's more than some and should be enough to keep most people entertained for a week.
The nearest ski lift is 350m from the hotel, which is about a quarter of a mile. That was somewhere in the middle when compared to other Neilson resorts.
Getting to Andorra from the UK isn't too tricky. The flight time and the transfer time combined is about 5 hours. Again, that's not the closest but not the furthest of the Neilson ski hotel resorts. The main language in Andorra is Catalan.

2. Neilson Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère in France - expensive, great reviews, swimming pool
If you have deep pockets and prefer the familiarity of visiting a French resort, then Neilson's Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère should be near the top of your list. Neilson call this their 'flagship' ski hotel.
Val d'Isère is a popular resort which made it into a list of the top 20 European ski resorts by readers of Conde Nast Traveler in 2022. If you're taking notes, it came third.
Hotel La Tovière was the most expensive Neilson ski resort in our price comparison it was top in our league table of customer reviews with outstanding scores of 4.7/5 on Google Reviews and 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor.
It's got an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and steam room and is another one which is in Neilson's 'Mountain Collection'. That means you get meals every day and ski coaching/guiding.
There's a children's area with games but there isn't childcare at this one, so it's best for families with children who are able to put on skis and get out on the snow. It's got a pretty good range of pistes (159 runs) and it's only a very short walk from the hotel to the first ski lift.
The main downside with Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère (besides the lack of childcare and higher cost) is that it's the furthest Neilson resort from the UK. It has a combined flight and transfer time of about 5 hours 30 minutes, plus the time you spend hanging around the airports. That's about 90 minutes further than the closest resorts.

3. Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa in Les Menuires in France - great pool, plenty of pistes, quite pricey
Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa in Les Menuires in France has a lot in common with Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère. In fact, in many ways it is better.
It's half an hour closer from the UK and it's got about 100 more ski slopes for you to try out and the nearest ski lift is similarly close.
The hotel also has a better-than-average swimming pool and sauna. And because it is another one of Neilson's Mountain Collection of posher hotels, you get meals every night, childcare and ski coaching.
Menuires is another popular resort which made it into Conde Nast Traveler's top 20 European ski resorts in 2020 (it was 17th, slightly lower than Val d'Isere). It dropped out of the top 20 in 2021 and 2022.
However, overall customer reviews are a little behind Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère. It currently scores 4.3/5 on Google Reviews and 4.5/5 on TripAdvisor. That's still an impressive score, but not quite as good as Val d'Isere. It was about £1000 cheaper than Hotel La Tovière in our price comparison.

4. Neilson Chalet Hotel Dolomites Inn (Penia di Canazei) in Val di Fassa in Italy - lots of ski runs, good value
If you're an adventurous skier who wants to cover a lot of miles of piste then Neilson Chalet Hotel Dolomites Inn in Italy might be the best one for you.
There are more than 600 different ski runs near the resort, which is more than double the next closest Neilson resort.
The hotel isn't in Neilson's 'Mountain Collection' which means that you don't get quite so many extras, but this is reflected in the lower price. In our price comparison, it was one of the cheaper Neilson ski holidays despite scoring very well with customers (4.5/5 on both TripAdvisor and Google reviews). The hotel has a hot tub and a squash court and provides meals six nights a week.
I've got a couple of reservations about this hotel, if you'll excuse the pun. Firstly, it is about half a mile from the hotel to the nearest ski lift. That's not a long walk under normal circumstances but it's a bit of a pain once you put on clumpy ski shoes and end up carrying your children's skis.
It's also a fairly long journey with a three-hour transfer time from the airport.

5. Neilson Chalet Hotel Edelweiss in Sauze d’Oulx in Italy - close to the UK, mid-priced, quite good reviews
Neilson Chalet Hotel Edelweiss in Sauze d’Oulx in Italy caught our eye as it's one of the closest Neilson resorts to the UK. The flight and transfer time adds up to just under four hours which is a whole 90 minutes less than Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère.
On the skiing trips we've been on, the journey from the airport to the resort always felt like it went on and on. Another plus point is that the nearest ski lift is practically in the hotel lobby (I exaggerate slightly).
In our price comparison it was one of the more expensive options. It scores 4/5 on TripAdvisor. That's not a bad score, but the standard is high with several Neilson hotels doing better.
It's not in Neilson's Mountain Collection so you don't get meals every night and other extras, such as childcare.
The number of ski runs is about 200 - which is somewhere in the middle for a Neilson ski holiday.
