Neilson Ski Holiday Resorts: Our Top Picks for 2026
1. Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa in Les Menuires in France - great pool, plenty of pistes, mid-priced
Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa in Les Menuires in France is a great all-rounder. It's not the cheapest, but it rated very well in most categories we looked at.
The overall review score is very good at 89% and it has the highest number of ski slopes of any of the Neilson hotels. The nearest ski slope is closer than most and it has a better-than-average swimming pool and sauna.
Menuires is another popular resort which made it into Conde Nast Traveler's top 20 European ski resorts in 2020 (it was 17th, slightly lower than Val d'Isere). It dropped out of the top 20 more recently.
Neilson rate is as one of their four star hotels, whilst some others have lower ratings.
One price, we've found it to be mid-range - but cheaper than most of the other four star Neilson hotels.

2. Neilson Hotel Del Clos in El Tarter in Andorra - best value, joint best reviews, no pool
Andorra isn't as famous for skiing as France or Austria, but we reckon that Neilson Hotel Del Clos in El Tarter is a terrific value option.
It came fourth in our comparison of customer reviews of all the Neilson ski hotels with a score of 4.4/5 on Google reviews and 4.4/5 on TripAdvisor - or 88% overall. It was the second cheapest Neilson ski hotels in our price comparison (see our full comparison here if you've got time on your hands).
The main thing it's missing is a swimming pool.
In other areas, Neilson Hotel Del Clos was somewhere in the middle of our rankings. The resort has 128 different ski runs which isn't anywhere near as many as the 275 at Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa in Les Menuires in France. However, it should be enough to keep most people entertained for a week.
The nearest ski lift is 350m from the hotel, which is about a quarter of a mile. That was somewhere in the middle when compared to other Neilson resorts.
Getting to Andorra from the UK isn't too tricky. The flight time and the transfer time combined is about 5 hours. Again, that's not the closest but not the furthest of the Neilson ski hotel resorts. The main language in Andorra is Catalan.

3. Neilson Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère in France - expensive, great reviews, swimming pool
If you have deep pockets and like the familiarity of visiting a French resort, then Neilson's Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère should be near the top of your list. Neilson call this their 'flagship' ski hotel.
Val d'Isère is a popular resort which made it into a list of the top 20 European ski resorts by readers of Conde Nast Traveler in 2024. If you're taking notes, it came seventh.
Hotel La Tovière was amogst the most expensive Neilson ski resort in our price comparison. However, it was top in our league table of customer reviews with outstanding scores of 4.6/5 on Google Reviews and 4.7/5 on TripAdvisor - or 93% overall.
It's got an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and steam room.
There's a children's area with games but there isn't childcare at this one, so it's best for families with children who are able to put on skis and get out on the snow. It's got a pretty good range of pistes (159 runs) and it's only a very short walk from the hotel to the first ski lift.
The main downside with Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère (besides the lack of childcare and higher cost) is that it's the furthest Neilson resort from the UK. It has a combined flight and transfer time of about 5 hours 30 minutes, plus the time you spend hanging around the airports. That's about 90 minutes further than the closest resorts.
An alternative within Val d'Isère is Neilson Hotel & Spa Le Savoie. It was new to Neilson for the 2025/2026 season but had picked up great reviews under its previous owners. We found it was quite expensive but it has a swimming pool and a four star rating.

4. Neilson Chalet Hotel Edelweiss in Sauze d’Oulx in Italy - close to the UK, mid-priced, quite good reviews
Neilson Chalet Hotel Edelweiss in Sauze d’Oulx in Italy caught our eye as it's one of the closest Neilson resorts to the UK. The flight and transfer time adds up to just under four hours which is a whole 90 minutes less than Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère.
On the skiing trips we've been on, the journey from the airport to the resort always felt like it went on and on. Another plus point is that the nearest ski lift is practically in the hotel lobby (I exaggerate slightly).
In our price comparison, it was one of the more expensive options. It scores 4.2/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.5/5 on Google Reviews (or 87% for the purposes of comparison with other Neilson hotels). That's not a bad score, but the standard is high with several Neilson hotels doing better.
It doesn't offer the same childcare options as some Neilson hotels, which will be the dealbreaker for some people.
The number of ski runs is about 200 - which is somewhere in the middle for a Neilson ski holiday.

5. Neilson Chalet Hotel Casale in El Tarter in Andorra - lowest review score, second cheapest
Don't get put off by seeing Neilson Chalet Hotel Casale in El Tarter in Andorra in fifth place. It's a little more basic and smaller than the others in this guide, but Neilson don't have any 'bad' hotels, and it still has quite a few points in the 'pros' column (see our main Neilson skiing guide for the pros and cons).
Reviews average 84% (or 4.2/5 on TripAdvisor), which is a perfectly respectable score. The problem is that some other Neilson hotels have exceptionally good review scores of around 90%, so it's a high bar!
It's also a relatively long journey from the UK of about five hours to Hotel Casale and it has the joint lowest number of ski runs. The walk to the ski slope is also the furthest of the five Neilson hotels.
The good news is that Neilson Chalet Hotel Casale in El Tarter was second cheapest in our price comparison. It is significantly cheaper than Neilson Hotel La Tovière in Val d'Isère in France.
The hotel itself is cosy, relaxed and homely rather than feeling like a swanky hotel. It's a barn conversion so there are lots of exposed stone walls. There are 19 bedrooms in total, making it the smallest Neilson Hotel. It doesn't have anything like a swimming pool or spa facilities - you'll need to upgrade to Neilson Hotel Le Menuire & Spa or Hotel La Tovière for a pool.
