1. Worthyvale Farm, Cornwall (sleeps 4-6)
There are three rather nice holiday cottages with hot tubs in this converted barn at Worthyvale Farm in Cornwall.
You can pick from two bedroom cottages (Rose Cottage and Bluebell Cottage) or a three bedroom cottage if you need a bit more space (Lavender Cottage). That would make it an excellent choice for a big family holiday where you want to see your relatives...but you don’t want to live on top of each other. The kids can play with each other, without the parents having to share with Aunt Maude and Uncle Geoffrey.
They’ve all got log burners as well, which will add to the romantic ambience in the colder months.
You can’t bring any dogs to Worthyvale Farm. Of course, you may consider that an upside if you aren’t a dog lover and don’t want to sit on a sofa covered in dog hairs...
The cottages are along Cornwall’s northern coast, about ten minutes drive inland from the stunning coast of Tintagel. It is famous for Tintagel Castle, where legend suggests King Arthur was born. Let’s not dwell on the fact that King Arthur probably didn’t exist, so visiting his birthplace is a bit tricky.
One downside with Worthyvale Farm is that you can’t really walk to the beach, unless you own a pair of hiking boots. Port Isaac – where Doc Martin is filmed – is about 15 minutes away in the car.

2. See The Sea and Oceans Away, Devon (sleeps 4-6)
If a hot tub with a sea view is your priority then you could do a lot worse than one of these two self catering holiday cottages in Devon.
See The Sea and Oceans Away are both on the same site overlooking Woolacombe Beach. They’ve been neatly designed with bi-fold doors which lead on to the outside space and hot tubs.
Both cottages have three bedrooms, so they’re best value for a family of 4-6.
Getting around Devon can be a little slow but the location is excellent. You can walk down to Woolacombe Bay and there are several other beaches and attractions within a short drive. Ilfracombe Beach and Lee Bay are both 15 minutes away in the car whilst Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is about 20 minutes away.
You can’t bring pets to Sea The Sea or Oceans Away.

3. Dragonfly Cottage/Honey Bee Cottage, Dorset (sleeps 4)
These two Dorset holiday cottages with hot tubs are halfway between Dorchester and Weymouth. You can pick from Dragonfly Cottage or Honey Bee Cottage, which are next door to each other. Curiously, they both have more bathrooms than bedrooms, so you won’t be queueing in the morning.
There are log burners in the lounges and the hot tubs are under gazebos so you can use them in all weathers. They are very nicely decorated inside and have a modern feel to them.
Dorset’s a lovely county for a hot tub holiday. The kiss-me-quick hats of Weymouth are 10 minutes away but I personally prefer the stretch of coastline around West Bay (where Broadchurch was filmed).
Bournemouth and Poole are 40-50 minutes away, so close enough for a day out at the seaside. The atmospheric coastline around Lulworth Cove is about 30 minutes away.
These are both dog friendly cottages with hot tubs.

4. Lammtarra Cottage, Lake District (sleeps 5)
We've found the choice of holiday cottages with hot tubs to be much smaller in the Lake District than it is in Devon and Cornwall.
However, we found this gem – Lammtarra Cottage. It’s just outside the Lake District National Park but you can reach the waters of Bassenthwaite in about 20 minutes or the town of Keswick in 30 minutes.
Lammtarra sleeps five people in three bedrooms and has a hot tub overlooking the open fields behind. It’s a bungalow, which will suit some people who struggle with stairs in holiday cottages.
You can reach the coastline in 10 minutes. It’s pleasant for wandering, but this part of the UK coast isn’t really the sort of place where you’ll be building sandcastles or spending whole days at the beach. Thankfully, the scenery of the Lake District makes up for it!
Dogs aren’t allowed at Lammtarra Cottage.

5. Rayne Cottage, Yorkshire Dales (sleeps 4)
If you’re planning a holiday to Yorkshire, have a good think about which part of the county you want to visit. It’s a vast area so you’ll need to decide if you want the beaches of East Yorkshire or the rolling hills and dry stone walls of the Yorkshire Dales.
We’ve picked out this Yorkshire holiday cottage with a hot tub in the Yorkshire Dales, only a few miles outside of the Lake District.
There are good views of the rolling hills around North Yorkshire and it has lovely high ceilings with exposed beams.
The local area is better for walking than it is for huge theme parks, but we love this part of the UK and have found that children enjoy sploshing around in streams and so on.
Rayne Cottage allows you to bring three dogs, which is unusually generous. Please don’t allow your dogs into the hot tub...

6. Smallburgh Hall Cottages, Norfolk (sleeps 4 or 8)
There are two holiday cottages with hot tubs at historic Smallburgh Hall in Norfolk. As well as a private hot tub, you have the added bonus of being able to use a shared indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and snooker room.
The smaller (and cheaper) option is the Mews Cottage which has a hot tub next to the outside dining area. Inside, it’s really nicely done with a fireplace in the middle of the lounge and a much bigger kitchen than you usually get in a holiday cottage.
Bigger families and groups can stay in the Mews House which is on the same site at Smallburgh Hall. It costs about twice the price of Mews Cottage, but it sleeps twice as many people.
Again, the décor is very nicely done and you’ve got a private hot tub in the garden. Both of these holiday cottages with hot tubs are dog friendly.
The cottages are a little way inland, but you can drive to Cromer in 25 minutes for a wander along its famous pier (as featured in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa!). Caister on Sea is a similar distance away. The nearest beach is about 15 minutes drive away. Norwich is a nice city which is good for shopping – the cottages are about 20 minutes away by car.

7. Westport Cottage, Isle of Wight (sleeps 7)
We love the Isle of Wight and regularly proclaim how good it is for a holiday.
Yes, you’ve got to pay £100-£200 for the ferry but the scenery is gorgeous. The Isle of Wight is very compact too, so you can visit 10 beaches in a week rather than sticking to the same two or three. For comparison, Cornwall is more than nine times the size of the Isle of Wight.
Westport Cottage is in the small West Wight town of Yarmouth. This side of the Island has less attractions than the East Wight (Sandown, Shanklin, Ryde etc.) but the scenery is nicer and it's less developed. We like Compton Bay and Freshwater Bay which are 10 minutes away by car, but there are plenty of other beaches along the West Wight coastline.
The cottage is larger than most we've featured in this guide - it can actually take nine people if you include a couple of fold out beds. It's really lovely inside with a wood burner in the lounge and a good sized kitchen with a range and whopping great fridge freezer.
Unusually, the hot tub is large enough for seven people and it has a hoist (you are advised to bring your own sling if you need to use the hoist).

8. Welsh Cob Cottage and Clysedale Cottage, Wales (sleeps 4)
Here's our Welsh entry in this guide to the UK's top 10 holiday cottages with hot tubs. You'll find these two self catering holiday cottages about half way between Aberystwyth and Cardigan in West Wales.
Welsh Cob Cottage and Clysedale Cottage both sleep four people but they don't allow dogs. They've got a nice open plan feel to them, which I think works well on holiday. You don't really want to be the one person stuck in the kitchen whilst everyone else is in the lounge. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, and plenty of space.
The cottages are part of a converted barn on a working farm. As an added bonus, you also get access to an onsite swimming pool and tennis courts. The swimming pool isn't heated, but it does have a roof.
The two cottages have slightly different designs - one has an island with bar stools whilst the other has a separate dining table.
It's a pretty rural area, so don't come here expecting massive theme parks. However, there are several beaches within about 10-15 minutes drive, including the dramatic landscape of Castell Bach Bay and Cwmtydu Cove.

9. Loch Carlingwark Cottages, Scotland (sleeps 4)
You've got a couple of options if you stay in one of the cottages at Loch Carlingwark in Scotland. You can either lounge around in the hot tub downstairs or sit out on the balcony and watch boats on the loch.
There are rwo cottages with hot tubs to choose from. They have the straightforward names of Lodge One and Lodge Two. Both have cool interior decor with rather nice stripes. You also get a nice spacious kitchen and en-suites.
The local town is Castle Douglas, which has a good choice of places to eat. To the north is Galloway Forest Park and to the south is the coast. It will take you about 25 minutes to reach the local beaches, although they are places for exploring rather than spending a day out building sandcastles.

10. The Fernery and Plum Tree Cottage, Yorkshire (sleeps 4)
Our final pick in this guide to self catering cottages with hot tubs is this gem in Yorkshire. The Fernery and Plum Tree Cottage both sleep four people and they both allow you to bring two dogs. You'll find them at the end of a long, tree-lined driveway which adds a nice feeling of privacy.
Both are good choices for sunny days. Plum Tree Cottage has a conservatory overlooking the countryside whilst The Fernery has a posh summer house alongside the hot tub which is described as a snug. You'll be able to swing open the doors and practically watch TV outdoors on a summer's evening.
The cottages sit just off the A1, roughly half an hour from the Yorkshire Dales, the North Pennines and the North Yorkshire Moors. It may be a good cottage to choose if you are wanting to do a lot of walking over several days by exploring different areas.
These self catering cottages with hot tubs are part of a 1200 acre woodland where you can walk the dog around the lake.
