Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park - The Essential Guide!
Activity prices, review scores, accommodation options and top tips for visiting Haven's biggest holiday park
I recently realised that Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park in Lincolnshire is the company's biggest holiday park.
I am indebted to a man called Graham who emailed me to politely say that he thought my guide to Haven's five biggest holiday parks was wrong.
According to the official guides - Devon Cliffs is the largest - but that's not the case, based on the number of accommodation units. We counted them on the official site plans and found that Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park has more than 1800 caravans and lodges whilst Haven Devon Cliffs is closer to 1600. Yes, it took a long time to count them but I felt it was my duty as a self-appointed guru.
It's possible that we counted wrong after a confusing day of counting caravans on maps. Haven could also be referring to the numbers of acres. Either way, Haven Cleethorpes Beach is certainly an absolute whopper, which is worthy of its own guide on this blog.
This guide is to going to help you weigh up whether Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park is right for you. We'll look at some of Haven's local alternatives and see how they compare on review scores and value for money.
This may be a good moment to explain that Haven Cleethorpes Holiday Park was known as Haven Thorpe Park Holiday Park for many years before a rebrand in 2023.

How about we start with a little about the location of Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park?
Great suggestion, bravo.
You've hopefully figured out that Haven Cleethorpes Beach is on Lincolnshire's East Coast. It's certainly less confusing than when it was called Haven Thorpe Park.
However, it's also worth noting that Cleethorpes Beach is indeed right next to the beach - whereas some holiday parks with 'beach' or 'coastal' in the title are actually inland.
Personally, this is a big deal for me. We like a half hour walk to the beach after an evening meal, which isn't going to happen if it requires you to get everyone into the car. It's more more realistic if the beach is on the doorstep.
Haven Cleethorpes Beach's location means that it attracts a lot of visitors from the East Midlands and Yorkshire.
Sheffield and Leeds are about 90 minutes away. Lincoln and Hull are about an hour away. Manchester is more like 2 hours 15 minutes.
If you live in the East Midlands or Yorkshire then I would also take a look at Haven Golden Sands in Mablethorpe and Haven Skegness. For many years, Haven Skegness was known as Richmond Holiday Centre. It was bought by Haven and rebranded.
Mancunians might also like to look at Haven Hafan y Môr Holiday Park and Haven Greenacres Holiday Park. They are both a similar distance away and are two of Haven's best resorts.

Is Haven Cleethorpes Beach popular with reviewers?
There's a curious phenomenon in holiday park review scores that we've noticed over the years.
For some reason, larger holiday parks tend to get lower review scores than smaller holiday parks. People are more inclined to give a five star review to a row of 10 caravans than they are to a resort with 1000 caravans, swimming pools, several restaurants and dozens of activities.
My theory is that most people arrive on holiday in a 'five star' mood and then gradually drop their score as things irritate them. If you book a small holiday park without facilities then you probably know what to expect and there's not much to complain about. There's a lot more chance of lowering your rating if you have loads of facilities (e.g. "the swimming pool was too cold" or "my chips were not crispy enough").
So, how does Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park rate, considering that it's Haven's largest resort? Here is its overall review score, compared to the neighbouring Haven resorts:
These figures are worked out by adding together scores on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews to create an average.
As you can see, Haven Cleethorpes Beach is one of the lower scoring resorts amongst its Haven neighbours. I wouldn't let that put you off too much. Its score of 78% is still a good one and - as mentioned 45 seconds ago - larger holiday parks do tend to score slightly lower. Haven Primrose Valley is another very large holiday park and it only scores 2% more than Haven Cleethorpes Beach.

Is Haven Cleethorpes Beach a good option for a cheap holiday park?
We like to compare peak time prices at holiday parks. Of course, you can bag an absolute bargain in early October but that's not when most people want to visit. Peak time prices also tend to make it easier to see notable differences in prices at different Haven holiday parks.
For a price comparison, we looked at the cost of a week's holiday at Haven Cleethorpes Beach and its six closest Haven neighbours.
We only looked for the cheapest caravan available and searched for four people, without a dog. You can bring dogs to Haven Cleethorpes Beach but you'll pay more for it.
Here's how the prices look for a week in August 2025:
As you can see, Cleethorpes Beach is the winner in our price comparison. The differences between most of them are pretty modest, but it's a victory nonetheless.
These prices are for a standard Haven holiday. Haven also offer something called a Haven Hideaway for people who just want accommodation and the occasional meal in the restaurant. You miss out on access to the swimming pool, evening entertainment and the option to pay for some of the activities. If you downgrade from a Haven holiday to a Haven Hideaway then you can save yourself about £100 - £200 for a week's holiday in August. The saving is more significant at the bigger holiday parks, where there are more activities.
My advice is that it's usually best to go for a standard holiday rather than a Haven Hideaway. £200 initially seems like a significant saving, but for a family of four it works out as about £7 per person, per day. That will soon be gobbled up if you decide to head off site and visit local attractions instead.

What's the accommodation like at Haven Cleethorpes Beach?
So far, we've established that Haven Cleethorpes is a cheap holiday park, but that other Haven resorts in the area get slightly better review scores.
But, what's the accommodation like?
For first time visitors, I'll explain that the majority of Haven's accommodation is caravans. They do also have lodges, which are wider and more spacious but these are less common and (of course) more expensive.
Haven has several grades of caravan, ranging from Saver (£) to Signature Sea View (£££££). You can read our full guide to Haven's caravan grades here or download the official comparison PDF guide from Haven.
Spending more money gets you a larger caravan, as well as extra things like a TV in the bedroom, a dishwasher, a balcony and a larger fridge/freezer.
Smaller Haven resorts tend to only have some of the caravan grades, whilst larger resorts give you more choice.
When we searched, we found that Haven Cleethorpes Beach had an outstanding range of accommodation to choose from. That's good news if you've been to Haven before and are looking to book the same grade of accommodation again (or want to avoid a particular grade!).
Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park has:
As you can see, there's a dazzling choice of accommodation at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park - this is certainly an area where it excels. However, it doesn't have as many different lodges as some Haven holiday parks and it doesn't have glamping (see Haven's glamping options or our guide to holiday parks with glamping).
For comparison, Haven Skegness Holiday Park has 10 different grades and accommodation types to choose from.
Haven Cleethorpes Beach also has camping and touring, with enough space for 120 pitches.

Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park has:

What about facilities at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park?
So, Haven Cleethorpes Beach is a huge holiday park with some of Haven's lowest prices and a beachside location. But does it have plenty to do onsite - and what will you end up paying extra for?
Free and included activities at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park
My strong advice on a Haven holiday is to focus on the free activities and set a realistic budget for paid activities.
You've already paid for the holiday and you've gone for the standard Haven holiday rather than the cheaper Haven Hideaway option - so you want to get your money's worth.
There's an elevated risk of tantrums or bankruptcy if you turn up without a plan.
Included in a standard Haven holiday at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park is:

Included in a standard Haven holiday at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park is:
- An indoor swimming pool with features including a bucket that dumps water on your head.
- An outdoor lazy river with a 'space bowl' slide. I'm the sort of dad who likes to 'try this out' first to check it's suitable for the children.
- An outdoor splash park for younger children with things that squirt water and lead to tantrums about older children splashing excessively.
You also get:
Of course, you also have the beach on your doorstep. That will hopefully fill a good chunk of your time if the weather turns up! There are some nice walking spots along the coast (my children would complain if I called it a walk, but would go along with it if I said we were going out for ice cream and then made them walk to get it).
But how does it compare to the other Haven holiday parks? The swimming pools at Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park are good - but there are other Haven resorts with bigger and better pools, including Haven Hafan y Môr in Wales, Haven Craig Tara Holiday Park in Scotland and Haven Seashore Holiday Park in Norfolk. I appreciate that none of those are terribly convenient if you live in Leeds and don't fancy hours of driving.
However, if the swimming pool is the deciding factor for you then I would also look at Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park - which is a park in Yorkshire with a decent pool. I'm not saying it's significantly better than the pool at Haven Cleethorpes Beach but it's on a similar scale.
- Entertainment in a large venue called the Marina Bar and Stage. This includes shows for children as well as evening entertainment for adults (assuming you aren't exhausted and have a babysitter available).
- A decent modern playground in the Adventure Village
- Live music in the Adventure Village
- A sports court with space for basketball and football.
- A bark yard dog agility course. These are only at half a dozen of Haven's holiday parks and makes Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park one of the better ones for dogs.
- Fishing lakes, although you need your own rod and licence.

Paid activities at Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park
Besides the 'free' stuff, there are also quite a few pay as you go activities at Haven Cleethorpes Beach, including:
You can see how much these are likely to cost on our blog about Haven's activity price list, or here's the official guide from Haven.
- minigolf and 'normal' golf
- high ropes
- a giant pillow you can jump onto
- a climbing wall
- den building and ranger activities
- pottery painting and build and bear
- NERF training camp

What about food and drink at Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park?
There was great excitement recently when Wetherspoons announced a partnership with Haven.
They are gradually being added to Haven resorts - and Cleethorpes Beach is one of the first to get a Wetherspoons. It's called the Humber Stone. The prices at Wetherspoons at Haven aren't quite as cheap as the one in an old church in your high street, but they are still pretty good value.
Besides Wetherspoons, you can also eat at places such as Slim Chickens (which I'm a fan of) or get takeaways from Papa Johns.
You'll probably be aware that eating out at a holiday park is never particularly cheap, so we tend to self cater most of the time.

Conclusion - should I stay at Haven Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park?
It depends! Sorry, that's not a helpful answer but hear me out.
Haven's Cleethorpes is a great choice if you want a good value and large Haven resort that is near to a beach.
It is beaten by some other Haven holiday parks nearby on review scores. However, it is quite common for larger holiday parks to get lower review scores than smaller ones. Scroll up if you're interested in my theory as to why that is often the case!
With Haven Cleethorpes you get some other plus points, such as the option of sea view accommodation if you don't mind paying for it. The upgrades can be pretty pricey. When we checked peak time prices, we found that the larger caravans with sea views cost about twice as much as the cheapest 'Saver' caravans.
