Woodhall Country Park in Lincolnshire Review

We were charmed by Woodhall Country Park

Woodhall Country Park is a real delight. We paid a visit towards the end of spring in 2026 and felt that it was a real gem that probably isn't known about by a huge number of people. 

Here's what we thought of its location, first impressions, accommodation and facilities.

​Location of Woodhall Country Park 

For those that don't know Lincolnshire very well, it's worth saying that Woodhall Spa is one of the nicest towns in the whole of the county. Personally, I find some parts of Lincolnshire to be quite sparse but Woodhall Spa has a real character to it, including a thriving High Street and even a very old traditional cinema in the woods (the Kinema in the Woods). 

Perhaps it's no great surprise then that the country park is equally lovely. 

However, it certainly isn't a great location for beachside holidays. You'll have a drive of 45 minutes to visit the coastline that includes Skegness and Mablethorpe. The good news is that the location is (in my opinion) much classier and more appealing, even if it is rather lacking in local attractions and beaches.

First impressions of Woodhall Country Park 

Our first impression upon arrival at Woodhall Country Park was the large and impressive new reception building that is currently being built. By the time we get around to publishing this guide it may well be much further along! 

I'm not completely sure what is going to be inside this reception building but it certainly looks large enough to provide some on-site facilities.

Facilities and accommodation at Woodhall Country Park

As it stands, there aren't a lot of things to do on site. There are some fishing lakes and a fair amount of space to go for walks but it certainly doesn't have things like swimming pools or children's activities. Instead, this is more the sort of place where you go for a bit of peace and quiet - or perhaps if you're visiting family in the local area.

The accommodation at Woodhall Country Park is a real mix but it all looks pretty decent to me. A large amount of space is taken up by the camping and touring area, which is nicely laid out with plenty of trees and a good amount of space between the caravans.

Our focus and interest though is on the holiday park side of Woodhall Country Park. The smaller end of the accommodation options are some little pods, which overlook one of the lakes. These are similar in size to a large family tent and look quite appealing if you like a glamping or slightly rustic vibe to your holiday.

There are then half a dozen very smart looking one storey lodges that are in a circle with a fire pit in the middle. These have hot tubs and are also near to one of the lakes. The design reminded me very much of some Center Parcs or Landal Greenparks accommodation, particularly those that you get within Europe.

However, the majority of the rental accommodation is lodges, which come in various shapes and sizes. All the lodges we saw were similar in quality and style to those found at Darwin Escapes, which is a brand that we are a big fan of. The lodges are well spaced out and some of them have hot tubs. Several of them also have views looking over the lakes.

Atmosphere and vibe at Woodhall Country Park

The atmosphere and vibe at Woodhall Country Park is a long way from family holiday parks such as Haven and Parkdean Resorts.

The limited facilities and rural location away from any big seaside resorts means that this is the place for rest and relaxation rather than non-stop activities. 

We felt the whole site was very smart and well looked after. 

One of my favourite hobbies when I visit holiday parks is to take a look at the pathways to see how well maintained they are. In this case, they've gone for big chunky gravel, which fits in well with the country park vibe. 

Yes, I really am commenting on the gravel - but I do think that landscaping makes a big difference to how a holiday park looks. 

Cheap and cheerful holiday parks tend to have worn out the tarmac whilst smarter ones either have well maintained gravel tracks or smart and smooth tarmac.

Final thoughts on Woodhall Country Park 

Woodhall Country Park is a long way in style and facilities from a big Haven holiday park or a Butlins resort. I would strongly advise against visiting if you're looking for the sort of place that you will spend every minute on site. 

However, this is a really well looked after gem of a holiday park and touring site, where the accommodation blends in really nicely with the local landscape. The proximity to the lovely little town of Woodhall Spa is a real plus point and the thought of pottering between the town and the country park is very appealing. ​
