Skegness Fields can be found on the outskirts of the Lincolnshire seaside town

Skegness Fields is only a small holiday park but we were really impressed when we visited.

The site itself is very simple. There's a central playground, which is modern but not vast. It provides a good place for children to play for a little bit, but I wouldn't plan your days around it.

Apart from that, there aren't really any facilities to talk of. So, why were we impressed?

We've been to dozens of holiday parks around the UK and I must say this is one of the smarter ones that we have seen. 

The tarmac was smooth, the grass was being cut regularly and everything seemed to be modern and in place. These may sound like small things, but when you've seen dozens of parks, these details do tend to stand out.

We thought that the layout at Skegness Fields Holiday Park was immaculate

The touring area was immaculate, with smartly laid out pitches rather than just a patch of grass and a wonky signpost.

The caravans and lodges around the site look very modern and well looked after. Some are owned and used as second homes, but others are available to hire.

And what about the location? Skegness Fields Holiday Park is on the outskirts of Skegness, practically opposite to Parkdean Resorts Southview Holiday Park. It's not really close enough to the beach that you'd be able to wander down to the beach in an evening. If that's a deal breaker for you then you'll need to look elsewhere.

However, if you want modern and clean accommodation and you don't mind getting in the car to go to the beach or to go to Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells, then this may be a good choice for you. 

The other thing worth mentioning is that Skegness Fields Holiday Park is next to quite a busy road. However, there is a significant amount of coverage and protection offered by the hedges and trees around the site and we didn't find it to be particularly noisy.
