The Salterns Holiday Village in Seaview isn't exactly a caravan holiday park (Ed: great start!). However, it shares a lot in common with a caravan park and it's a popular choice for people looking for good value accommodation near the seaside on the Isle of Wight. We visited the Salterns in Autumn 2025 and finally got round to writing up our review this week. Here's what we thought of it. First impressions and location of Salterns Holiday VillageThe Salterns Holiday Village can be found in Seaview, which is one of the posher parts of the Isle of Wight. The location is just metres from the seafront. The beach at Seaview has wide open sands at low tide but it's not particularly busy. Most people head around the corner to the beach at Appley. There you will find softer sand and things like playgrounds on the beach and places to eat. The beach at Seaview is certainly a good choice for a wander or if you want to avoid people. The site is split into two halves but the majority of the accommodation is rows of terraced chalets. As you come into the site, you'll find the chalets that are closest to the beach. The chalets have been brightly painted to give them a bit more of a seaside vibe. They also felt quite nostalgic to me as they are reminiscent of trips we used to have to Butlins. Facilities at Salterns Holiday VillageAs we explored further into the site, we came across the reception and the café. These are both quite quite large buildings, but you won't find things like a swimming pool or lots of entertainment laid on for you at this resort. Instead, it is a good place for finding reasonably-priced accommodation and somewhere to explore Seaview and the rest of the island. Accommodation at Salterns Holiday VillageAs mentioned previously, most of the accommodation at Salterns Holiday Village are rows of traditional holiday chalets. Towards the back of the site, there are also some detached two-storey properties, which are somewhat larger. Surrounding them is a really large patch of grass, which gives the site a nice green feel to it. It's a very flat site so you won't get much of a sea view, but you are certainly not a long way from the beach. I'm guessing you might get a view from the top floor of the two-storey properties but they are set back from the beach, so it would be a distant view. Final thoughts on Salterns Holiday VillageIf you're looking for a holiday park with a swimming pool and lots of entertainment, then Salterns is probably not for you. It does have a café, but you would be better to look at one of the big chain resorts such as Whitecliff Bay in Bembridge or Nodes Point in St Helens. However, if you want a traditional and nostalgic seaside chalet within a short distance from a very nice beach then the Salterns Holiday Village is a great choice. We were really impressed with how spaciously laid out the site is. There is plenty of green space that has been left, which gives it a nice feel. They have avoided the temptation of cramming more and more properties onto the site, which I think was the right decision. The location on the seafront in Seaview is what an estate agent would call a prestigious one. It's also convenient as you are right by the coastal path and can get exploring without always getting in the car.
