Parkdean Resorts Weeley Bridge Holiday Park in Essex Review: Leafy, peaceful and secluded29/11/2025 On paper, Parkdean Resort's Weeley Bridge isn't the sort of holiday park that I would normally go for. It's about 15 minutes to the coast and it only has an outdoor swimming pool. However, we paid the park a visit and were seriously impressed with what it has to offer and the park's general vibe. First impressions of Parkdean Resorts Weeley Bridge Holiday Park Weeley Bridge is right next door to a small railway station. We always see this as a positive point for a holiday park as it makes it easier to reach, if you don't have your own car. You would obviously need transport to get out and about, but being able to get off a train and arrive straight at the holiday park is definitely a good thing. We arrived by car and were immediately impressed with how green and leafy the site is. There's lots of green space throughout as well as plenty of mature trees. There are also quite a lot of what I would call palm trees, which give it more of a holiday feel than a lot of caravan parks. As we explored and got to know the site we were particularly taken with the streams and lakes, which give it some character. Ducks were happily bobbing in the stream and there's a good size lake for anyone who likes fishing whilst on holiday. In terms of scale, I would put it somewhere around the middle for Parkdean Resorts. We've certainly been to larger ones but it's big enough that it took us quite a while to get to know the site and to get our bearings. Accommodation at Parkdean Resorts Weeley Bridge Holiday ParkWeeley Bridge has a good range of caravans and most appear to be nice and modern. It doesn't have a touring or camping area and we didn't see many large lodges. A few of the caravans have a nice outlook, with several overlooking a lake or a stream and others overlooking some green space. The holiday park is quite flat and is inland so you don't get majestic views of the coastline. What we did like though was how quiet it is, as it is quite setback from the main road. It has quite a secluded feel to it, which I see as a positive when you're on holiday. Some holiday parks we've been to are next door to other holiday parks and can feel a little bit crammed in. However, at Weeley Bridge there are trees around a lot of the perimeter and it doesn't feel as though it is surrounded. Facilities at Weeley BridgeThere are a modest range of things to do at Weeley Bridge Holiday Park. It certainly isn't up there with some of the Action-Packed Parkdean Resorts, but it has most of the essentials that we look for. The children's playground is a good size and we thought that it looked modern and well looked after. The swimming pool is outdoors and quite simple (it doesn't have slides and flumes, for example). We visited a little out of season but it was easy to imagine that it would be popular during the warmer months. It certainly appeared clean and tidy. In fact, the whole site look to be well looked after with the grass immaculately cut and most of the roads around the site being quite smooth and smart. The main communal building combines a small amusement arcade with a restaurant. There is also somewhere you can eat outside, which has been well thought through as it overlooks the swimming pool. We've found this setup at quite a few holiday parks and think that it worked really well as it means you can get a drink and hang out near the pool whilst the children play. Location of Parkdean Resorts Weeley Bridge Holiday Park As mentioned, this holiday park is a little way inland from Clacton on Sea (about 15 minutes by car). Personally, we prefer to go for holiday parks that are walking distance to a beach as we like an evening stroll after tea. However, if that's not a big deal for you and you don't mind jumping in the car then I can highly recommend Weeley Bridge Holiday Park. The leafy vibe is really lovely and this is clearly a holiday park that is well cared for by its staff. See our main guide to holiday parks in Essex for more places to stay.
