It's fair to say that Southview has one of the grander entrances that you will find amongst the many Parkdean Resorts that we have visited around the UK. This wasn't our first visit, but I was still impressed with the cascading water feature on both sides of the entrance that lead up to the hotel and caravans. Yes folks, I did mean to say hotel because this is a very unusual holiday park compared to other Parkdean Resorts. As well as the caravans, you can also stay in a hotel, which was presumably on the site first before the rest of the land was developed. When we visited, there were geese frolicking in the sunshine and it all looked rather appealing. The main accommodation at SouthviewBeyond the hotel is the main holiday park, with its caravans and entertainment facilities. As you will have gathered, a blog called Holiday Park Guru is primarily interested in how the holiday park side of the business works and how it compares to others in the Skegness area, so we will focus on that. However, it is worth mentioning that if you had a scenario where your family wanted to stay in a caravan but a relative wanted to stay in a hotel, this would be the ideal setup. The main holiday park with its caravans and touring area is very large. It's not quite up there with some big Haven and Action-Packed Parkdean Resorts that we've visited, but it's fair to say that it goes on and on for a very long time, just like my Uncle Brian on Boxing Day. If you are staying at the back of Southview then you will have quite a walk to get to the entertainment facilities. My children are not bad walkers but I would still consider bringing bicycles. Facilities and things to do at SouthviewThe facilities at Southview are pretty decent and have been modernised recently. We particularly liked the look of the main bar and stage, which has lots of modern outdoor seating. The indoor swimming pool is close to the main entertainment area, whilst the Showbar and most of the places to eat are more towards the entrance. There are some other nice things to do including outdoor table tennis and draughts, as well as a couple of playgrounds. Vibe and atmosphere at Southview Holiday ParkOne thing we liked about Southview is that it is quite green and leafy. Several of the rows of caravans have trees along them, which breaks up the fairly straightforward layout. Caravan layout at SouthviewThere is some green space but I would say that the caravans are fairly close together. Some of the clusters of caravans are nicely separated by hedges, which gives it a warmer feeling and create little villages. Location of Southview Holiday ParkThe main downside with Parkdean Resorts Southview, in my opinion, is that the location is not very near to the beach. The good news is that there is a shared pathway that you can cycle along to get into Skegness. However, it's a pretty considerable journey next to a busy road, and you will probably find that you decide to drive to get to the golden sands of Skegness or the rollercoaster rides of Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells. As mentioned thirty seconds ago, Southview is also quite close to a busy road. This isn't much of a big deal because the park has such a long driveway that we didn't notice the noise when we were on the site. Overall then, I would give Southview a thumbs up as long as hassle-free evening walks to the beach are not your number one priority on holiday.
