Parkdean Resorts has just announced that it is now offering 'all inclusive' food and drink packages at a selection of its holiday parks. This sort of thing is my bread and butter, if you'll excuse the pun. We thought we'd take a quick look at what you get for your money and whether it's worth doing. What's the deal? Is it really all-inclusive? Parkdean is using their existing restaurants and menus rather than creating a new range of buffet food (in the Butlins style). It's probably better to think of this as a bundle deal to get cheaper food at the standard restaurants that you already know. From what I can tell, it is just being tried at some midweek off-peak breaks at nine different holiday parks including Camber Sands in Sussex, Skipsea Sands in Yorkshire, Lower Hyde and Landguard in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight and Southview in Skegness. For £75 you get breakfast, lunch and dinner plus small hot drinks and some soft drinks (that's the adult price) during a four night break. For children you'll pay £25. For your money, you get a total of 11 meals. That includes dinner on the Monday you arrive and breakfast on the Friday that you leave. Is it all you can eat?No, what's being offered isn't all you can eat. Instead you get a breakfast main meal, something from the lunch menu and then a main meal for dinner. You don't get starters, sides, desserts or alcoholic drinks. Is it worth it going all-inclusive at Parkdean Resorts?Personally, I think this is a pretty good deal but it really depends on the type of holiday you are planning. If you turn up for all 11 meals then it works out at just under £7 per meal. On top of that, you can have hot drinks and some soft drinks for free. We crunched the numbers to see how it would compare with paying-as-you-go at Parkdean Resorts Camber Sands. I've picked a range of dishes, you'll get slightly different results depending on what you choose.
That comes to a total of £131.19. On top of that, you also get 'hot drinks, draught soft drinks, and the unlimited squash for kids whenever you choose'. A draught Pepsi Max was £3.70 and a Cappuccino was from £3.65 when we checked Camber Sands prices. If you had one drink with each meal, that would add up to about £40. In other words, you're getting about £170 of food for £75. What's the downside? There are a few things to consider before you leap into the all-inclusive option at Parkdean Resorts.
Despite that, I do think this is a good deal and it's nice to see Parkdean offering something innovative.
