We were lucky to have great weather during our visit to Barmston Beach Holiday Park in Yorkshire. This made all the difference and I suspect that it would look quite different during a stormy week in winter! An isolated 'Marmite' locationThe first thing I noticed about the holiday park is that it is quite isolated. Some holiday parks are overlooked by other resorts on either side but that isn't the case with Parkdean's Barmston Beach. That will appeal to you if you're looking for peace and quiet rather than if you are looking to be in the hub of somewhere with lots of entertainment and things to do within a short distance. The peaceful vibe at Barmston Beach Holiday ParkThe vibe that we picked up onsite is very much peace and quiet with only quite simple facilities compared to bigger Parkden Resorts holiday parks in the area - such as the highly-rated Cayton Bay Holiday Park (another park we've been to in Yorkshire - see our top 10). Simple activities and facilities at Parkdean's Barmston BeachYou certainly won't find high ropes or climbing walls at this resort. However, what you do get is an outdoor swimming pool that is well used, as well as a small amusement arcade and soft play area. There's also a restaurant where the entertainment is provided. A dramatic clifftop location with beach access nearbyThe location of Barmston Beach Holiday Park is quite a dramatic one, teetering on a crumbling cliff edge that forms part of the Yorkshire coastal path. Several caravans have a good sea view but we did notice that the resort is very flat so you won't get much of a view unless you are on the front row (or thereabouts). The beach can't be accessed directly from the site as there is quite a significant drop. The cliff edge is fenced off, which fellow parents will find to be a relief! However, if you walk a short distance along the coastal path then the cliff drops slopes down until you can walk down a few steps and get onto the sandy beach. My kind of beach! The beach in this part of Yorkshire is really lovely and atmospheric and has an unspoilt quality about it, which I very much enjoyed. It only really takes a couple of minutes to walk to the beach from the edge of the holiday park. To the other side of Barmston Beach Holiday Park are farmers' fields and I was pleased to discover that our visit coincided with the harvest. There were some really lovely evocative scenes of tractors working the land on sunny evenings whilst the beach gave us choppy waters in the opposite direction. Final thoughts For me Parkdean Resorts Barmston Beach Holiday Park is a little bit too quiet, as we like to have a few more facilities. However, if you just want simple accommodation with sea views and access to a rustic beach then I'd say it is a good choice.
