Park Holidays UK has a significant presence around East Anglia and Essex. We recently took a trip to Seawick Holiday Park, which is just outside of Clacton. Seawick is the sister park to another large resort, which is now called Saint Osyth Beach and Martello Beach Holiday Park. These were originally two parks but became one earlier this year. I'm not sure if they celebrated this by singing 2 Become 1 by the Spice Girls, but I certainly would have done. Apologies if this is getting a little confusing, but the gist of it is that there are lots of facilities to choose from because you can hop between the sites. Our first impressions of Seawick Holiday ParkSeawick is at the end of a long straight track, off the main road. It isn't quite as close to the sea as its two sister parks, but you could probably walk to the beach in about five minutes. The beach itself is lovely and sandy. It was a little windswept during our visit, but we enjoyed seeing it in the sunshine. Exploring Seawick Holiday ParkWe were really impressed that Park Holidays UK has invested quite a lot of money at Seawick recently. The headliner is a large modern building, which incorporates a swimming pool as well as a big arcade, a restaurant and some other activities. You also can't help but notice the large climbing wall as you come in. Underneath it is a little track where you can pedal around on some go karts. There's also a mini golf course nearby. Once you add that on to the swimming pool and sports court at its sister park, you have a decent range of things to do. Seawick also has a large playground on the site, which we felt looked very modern. Towards the back of the site is some lovely green space, which includes a football pitch and a dog walking area. I always like it when a holiday park offers this sort of facility. Some are tempted to fill every corner of the site, so it is nice when a bit of green space is left for kicking a ball around. Accommodation around the Seawick Holiday ParkThis holiday park is a little setback from the sea, so you won't get a glorious sea view. Some of the caravans back onto fields, which is a nice alternative in my opinion, if not quite the same! A little bit about my obsession with brandingSome people may call me a very dull man but I always pay attention to branding at a holiday park. I think it looks classy if a holiday park uses the same branding and fonts throughout the site. Seawick does an excellent job of this, which lifts the quality of everything throughout the site. The local area around Seawick Holiday ParkWe didn't find a great deal to do within walking distance of the resorts, apart from the beach. However you can easily head into Clacton, which has plenty to do including a large pier with amusements. Jaywick itself is known for its very small single storey properties, which are in rows near the beach. I particularly enjoyed cycling into Clacton along the lovely esplanade. It is mostly cycle friendly, with one small section where we had to walk. The esplanade extends for a couple of miles and it's much quicker than walking. Final thoughts on Park Holidays UK's Seawick Holiday ParkIf you want direct access to a beach, then you would be better to stay at the St Osyth and Martello Beach Holiday Park, which has the same owners. However, if you don't mind a very short walk, then I would certainly take a look at Seawick. The facilities are modern and it has a good layout with most facilities bunched together for convenience. It isn't within the hub of Clacton itself, but it is quite easy to get there if you have your own car or bicycle. Related pagesSee our main guides to
