I was already aware before we visited Primrose Valley that it is one of the biggest Haven holiday parks. However, I wasn't quite prepared for how sprawling the site is. It took us a considerable amount of time to get our bearings and we got a good amount of exercise getting to know every corner of this vast site. Two entertainment areas at Haven Primrose Valley Holiday ParkThere are two main areas with entertainment at Primrose Valley, both of which are nicely done and have had money invested in them recently. Our favourite was the Adventure Village, where you can find high ropes and low ropes, as well as a climbing wall, a giant crash pillow, as well as the swimming pool and a boating lake. You pay for many of these activities, of course, but we've found that Haven is quite a lot cheaper than Centre Parcs and on a par with Parkdean Resorts for activity pricing. The Adventure Village is modern and it is nice to have everything bundled together so that different generations can try different things rather than traipsing around the site too much. Eating out at Primrose Valley Holiday ParkThe second focal point on the site that we visited included the onsite Wetherspoons, Burger King and Slim Chickens. Again, we found that these were nicely done and looking modern, with a good number of people enjoying the autumn sunshine on the terrace at Wetherspoons. Greenery and vibe at Haven Primrose ValleyHaven Primrose Valley is a very varied site but we were impressed that there is quite a lot of greenery, compared to some holiday parks that we have been to. For example, I would say that Haven Primrose Valley is quite a lot greener than Haven Blue Dolphin, which we've also visited and can be found a little way along the East Yorkshire coast. Beach trips from Haven Primrose ValleyWe found beach access to be a bit of a funny setup at Haven Primrose Valley. As you face the sea, there is an obvious path leading down on the right hand side. At first we thought that this was the main path down to the beach, until we saw the signposts advising us to turn around. Instead, you have to walk quite a considerable way to the left of the site before you reach a slope that leads down to the beach. Once you are at the beach, it is truly lovely. I can highly recommend visiting at low tide when the beach goes on the miles and there is absolutely no risk of struggling for space. Having looked at the map after our visit, I concluded that there may be a second route down that leads to a stretch of the beach further south, but we didn't find that one! Accommodation at Haven Primrose ValleySome of the caravans and lodges at Primrose Valley have a sea view but I would say that these are very much in the minority. Get one if you can but with such a large site it is not surprising that some caravans are quite a long way from the beach and don't offer that coastal vibe that is so appealing on holiday. Some of the signage around the site is the older Haven style. On our visits we have noticed that sites such as Haven Skegness have newer looking signs, which give it a bit of a fresher feel. If you aren't a regular Haven visitor then you probably wouldn't notice this, but we visit a lot of these resorts in the name of research! Overall though, Primrose Valley is a really terrific holiday park - but only if you enjoy things on a very large scale. Personally, I very much like large holiday parks and greatly enjoyed our visit. If you just want a slightly smaller resort in the area from Haven then Thornwick Bay or Reighton Sands would be better choices.
