We've been to several holiday parks owned by Park Holidays UK in recent years and we've consistently been impressed with what they offer. Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park was on our to-do list for a long time and we finally got round to a visit this autumn. First impressions of Felixstowe Beach Holiday ParkThe first thing we noticed about Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park is how many modern caravans there are. Some holiday parks have quite a few tatty old caravans, which tend to bring down the general vibe and classiness of place. I would say that's not the case with this holiday park, where there are plenty of signs of investment in newer accommodation. The site is pretty flat and whilst you won't get a view it certainly has a nice clean and modern feel to it. The location is near to a fairly busy road, not far from the shipping container storage areas, but we didn't find it to be particularly noisy when we visited. Facilities at Felixstowe Beach Holiday ParkWe would put this holiday park somewhere in the middle, in terms of its scale and the range of facilities that it provides. Guests get access to an indoor swimming pool and a couple of decent modern playgrounds, both of which we liked the look of. There's also somewhere where you can grab something to eat. It certainly is not on the same scale as some of the Parkdean Resorts 'Action Packed Parks' or the biggest Haven parks. However, for most people that isn't a problem as a holiday is more about exploring than about staying in one place. What impressed me a lot about Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park is the consistency of branding. That might sound like an incredibly boring thing but when you've seen as many holiday parks as I have you start to notice these things! Some holiday parks have a selection of signs from different eras with peeling paint. Modern parks such as this have signs that all work together and look nice and smart. Accommodation at Felixstowe Beach Holiday ParkAccommodation at Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park is fairly closely packed together and we didn't find a huge amount of green space to play on. However, it does seem to be very neatly managed and during our visit we didn't see any tatty areas at the park at all. LocationFelixstowe is a mix of two things. The seafront has a lovely long promenade, which is about 10 minutes walk from Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park. At the beach, we enjoyed the fish and chip shops and the amusement arcades, as well as a giant wheel on the seafront. During our stay, the sea was pretty wild, so it wasn't a particularly appealing place for a swim but it might be at different times of year! The other side to Felixstowe is its industrial side, with its large port full of hundreds of shipping containers. You can see some of these from Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park but they didn't ruin the peaceful feeling. Final thoughts on Felixstowe Beach Holiday ParkWe concluded that Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park is a pleasant site thanks to its nicely kept facilities and neat accommodation. It's not somewhere to go if you want loads and loads of things to do on site. It also isn't directly on the beach and has more of a town feel than a beach feel. However, the beach isn't far away and it's probably close enough for one of those rather enjoyable strolls after tea!
