Cherry Tree gets excellent reviews that put it ahead of Parkdean's other Norfolk resorts

It was August this year when we finally paid a visit to Cherry Tree Holiday Park. The park is just outside of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, about 10 minutes' drive from the seafront.

We've visited lots of different Parkdean Resorts around the UK, but this was one that was still on our wish list. I was particularly curious as it currently gets the best reviews of the seven Parkdean Resorts in Norfolk, with an average of 85% across TripAdvisor and Google Reviews.

Facilities at Cherry Tree Holiday Park

Cherry Tree - I would say - is mid-sized compared to other Parkdean Resorts and it matches that in the facilities that it has on site. It's not as large as the Action Packed Resorts but it also offers a lot more than some of its sister parks in Great Yarmouth such as Summerfields Holiday Park.

When we visited, the outdoor swimming pool was proving very popular, as well as creating plenty of noise. Music played, people larked around, it was a very happy scene. They've also got a decent indoor swimming pool at Cherry Tree.

There is hot competition for holiday parks in the Great Yarmouth area. What I quite like about Cherry Tree is that it is a lot greener than most holiday parks we've visited in the area. A lot of the site is surrounded by trees and there are also a good number scattered between the caravans.

The on-site playground and amusement arcade will both fill a bit of time, although I wouldn't say either of them are particularly huge compared to some other holiday parks that we've visited.

Other fun and games on offer at Cherry Tree Holiday Park

Whilst I was visiting Cherry Tree Holiday Park, I also saw some people larking around on Segways and a few lads kicking a ball around and enjoying the remains of the school holidays.

Accommodation and site layout at ​Parkdean Resorts Cherry Tree Holiday Park

The caravans at Cherry Tree Holiday Park are mostly laid out in neat rows.

However, I did wander across a large section of the park with lots of nice cul-de-sacs of caravans. I am a big fan of this layout as it makes it a bit easier for children to play without too many cars coming past.

A little more on the entertainment at ​Parkdean Resorts Cherry Tree Holiday Park

The main entertainment at Cherry Tree Holiday Park takes place in The Hub. This is a large building with a red roof that hits you when you first come in the site.

It's perhaps not the most beautiful building I've ever seen, but inside it is more modern and Parkdean Resorts has clearly spent money on branding recently. Besides the main restaurant, we also stumbled across an ice cream stand, which I just about managed to resist.

Our personal opinion and conclusions about Cherry Tree Holiday Park

I think my personal conclusion with Cherry Tree Holiday Park is that it is a nice friendly and leafy park. However, I am a bit of a sucker for having a beach nearby and I prioritise that over most other things. If that doesn't bother you so much and you are happy to drive to a beach then I certainly would look at Cherry Tree. It is nicely laid out and we've seen some good deals when we've been comparing prices with other holiday parks in Norfolk.

Personally, I will stick to beachside holiday parks when we book our next stay, but don't let that put you off an otherwise impressive resort.
